Columbiana County Common Pleas

John D. Gbur, 48, homeless in Salem, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to domestic violence for harming to Kacey Rohaley on March 26. Gbur has previous domestic violence convictions from 1995, 2011 and 2013, making this charge a third-degree felony. Gbur faces up to three years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Nov. 10.

Evan J. Wooding, 29, Beacon Light Road, Lisbon, stipulated to violating the terms of his probation for previous convictions of possession of drugs and receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to spend 20 days in jail concurrent with his time in a municipal court case and then he was ordered to continue his community control under the same terms and conditions.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

Rayshawn L. Gilmore, 26, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to counts one and three of a superseding indictment in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. The two charges he pleaded to were receiving stolen property and heaving weapons while under disability. Sentencing is set for Oct. 28

Gilmore had a stolen .40-caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun belonging to Anthony Basista Jr. on Nov. 7, 2014, when he already had a felony drug offense conviction from Mahoning County in 2009 prohibiting him from having firearms. In the superseding indictment, Gilmore was also charged with concealing that same weapon, resisting arrest and obstructing of official business for allegedly interfering with the work of Wellsville police and three counts of possession of drugs for allegedly having heroin, cocaine and tramadol on Nov. 17. 2014.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

Cody Allen Stauffenger, 24, Main Street, Alliance, was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to nine months in prison for importuning, sexual imposition and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. He was credited with 193 served. Stauffenger will be classified a Tier I sex offender, requiring him to register his residence and verify it annually for 15 years.

In November 2014 and continuing through January 2015, Stauffenger used a phone to solicit a teenage girl at least 13 but less than 16 to engage in fondling sexual activity with him. Additionally, he used his phone to send a photograph of his own private region to the girl.

Steffanie N. Johns, 29, Forty Fort, Pa., pleaded guilty to OVI and aggravated vehicular assault. Sentencing is set for Oct. 27, when she faces up to two years in jail, a five-year license suspension and a $6,075. Johns was driving a 2001 Dodge Intrepid belonging to Jason Jones, when she lost control and crashed on Jan. 22, 2013 when she had a blood alcohol concentration of .204.

Dawnitta M. Wright, 27, North Beaver Street, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to robbery. Sentencing is set for Oct. 24. Wright faces up to eight years in prison and a $15,000 fine. She was one of three people, who lured two men to a North Beaver Street, Lisbon, apartment on Dec. 4, 2015, where they stole their clothing, shoes, cell phone and watch.

Lee Michael Deitrick, 26, Canton, stipulated in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to violating his probation and was sentenced to nine months in prison for theft. Deitrick had stolen miscellaneous merchandise valued at $1,367 belonging to the Salem Walmart in November 2013.

Dorothy Heck Crago, 43, Butcher Road, Leetonia, had her community control dishonorably terminated. She had been on community control for 10 counts of forgery, which dealt with checks drawn on the account of Shirley J. Johansen at Farmers National Bank totaling $1,095 in 2012.

The grand jury returned a no bill of indictment for Thomas V. Bryarley Jr., 31, West Eighth Avenue, East Liverpool, who had been bound over on a domestic violence charge for allegedly harming Ruth Bryarley on June 8. The case has now been dismissed.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

Richard A. Faloba, 47, Trinity Church Road, Lisbon, was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to three years in prison for two counts of possession of drugs and one count each of illegal conveyance of a drug of abuse onto the grounds of a detention facility and theft. He was further fined $5,000 and had his license suspended for two years. Faloba was credited with 63 days already served in the two cases.

The theft charge was related to stolen AT&T copper transmission wire he and another man, Steven J. McVay, were caught burning the cover off of on Dec. 5, 2015. McVay, 35, Trinity Church Road, Lisbon, was granted probation and a chance to pay the $13,895 in restitution.

The drug-related charges came from Faloba having 27.65 grams of cocaine and less than a gram of heroin when deputies found him and a co-defendant hiding in the basement of his home on May 1, 2015. He was also found to have a folded paper packet containing less than .10 grams of heroin while he was in the county jail on May 2, 2015.

Edward H. Sprouse II, 39, Applegate Road, Lisbon, was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to nine months in prison and had his license suspended for six months for trafficking in drugs. Sprouse and another defendant, Madison Bieber, sold a confidential defendant 10 unit doses of heroin on Aug. 25, 2014. Bieber’s infant daughter was there during the controlled purchases. Bieber, 24, Jimtown Road, East Palestine, is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 6.

n Michael S. Vrabel, 52, West Wilson Street, Salem, stipulated to violating the terms of his treatment plan and was placed at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center for an indefinite period. His license was suspended for six months. Vrabel had been on the intervention plan after pleading guilty in November to two counts of possession of drugs for heroin and meth he had on July 2, 2014.

Thomas J. Phillips III, 20, South Egypt Road, Salem, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, misuse of credit cards and falsification. He was placed on an intensive four-year treatment plan. Phillips had a PNC Bank credit card belonging to Katelinn Howell, which he used to make transactions at an ATM, a Circle K and a Walmart in March of 2015 and then lied to police investigating the matter on March 10, 2015.

Justina M. DeSarro, 26, Curry Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to community control after she pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of drugs for heroin, oxycodone and cocaine on Sept. 25, 2014. The community control is the same terms and conditions from another case from Judge Scott Washam’s court, which was for two counts of possession of drugs for heroin in June of 2014. DeSarro has been placed on a four-year community control program, which includes up to six months to be served at the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center.

An East Liverpool man was given another chance at rehabilitation after being found to have violated his probation on breaking and entering charges from 2009.

Jason M. Zanders, 37, formerly of Vine Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced for up to six months after the prison alternative facility in Wintersville after found to have violated his probation by Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge C. Ashley Pike.

Zanders was originally sentenced to probation in 2011 after pleading guilty to breaking into the former Cactus Car Wash in Calcutta two years before and stealing money. He was cited for violating five terms of his probation, including testing positive for using marijuana and cocaine.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Joshua E. Killing, 20, Gurlea Street, Hanoverton, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, misuse of credit cards and burglary. Sentencing is set for Oct. 17. He faces four and a half years in prison and a $13,500 fine. Killing had a PNC Debit card taken from a Canterbury Lane home on March 6 and used it at various businesses in the Salem area between March 6 and March 9, 2015. He also entered the home of Samantha and Benjamin Muniz, through a window and stole a firearm, firearm equipment, ammunition, a camera, coins and a backpack on Nov. 10, 2015.

Glenn D. Bates Jr., 31, Main Street, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs with a forfeiture specification and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces up to a year in prison and a 30 day jail sentence, a five-year license suspension and a fine of $2,750. On Dec. 15, 2014, Bates had a spoon, set of scales and a smoking device along with a trace amount of cocaine.

Michael P. Esenwein, 31, Crestview Road, Leetonia, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs. He faces up to a two-year prison term, a five-year license suspension and a $5,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Oct. 17. Esenwein had heroin, drug paraphernalia, syringes and a burnt spoon on July 15, 2015 and heroin on Dec. 11, 2015.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

Robert J. Anderson III, 37, Carmel Achor Road, Rogers, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to possession of drugs, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug abuse instruments, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Anderson had a crack pipe in his pickup, a hypodermic syringe hidden on his person and knives concealed in his pocket and in his pickup on Aug. 7, 2015. then on Jan. 8, 2016, Anderson fled from a traffic stop on foot, climbed a barbed wire fence and escaped. Sentencing is set for Sept. 26 when he faces up to three years in prison, a $7,500 fine and a five year license suspension.

Ryan M. Thompson, 34, last known address South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and felonious assault. Sentencing is set for Oct. 21. He is faces up to nine years in prison, a $17,500 and a five years license suspension. Thompson had about .10 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his living room on Dec. 15, 2014 and assaulted Travis Lowther near Fernangles Tavern on Oct. 2, 2015 resulting in Lowther being taken to the hospital with lacerations to his chin, right eyebrow, bottom lip and posterior scalp, as well as extensive facial swelling and a slightly displaced fracture of cartilage of his trachea.

Michael A.J. Boggs, 25, Goshen Road, Salem, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to four counts of possession of drugs, along with one count each of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. On Sept. 14, 2015 Boggs had heroin, meth, hashish, alprazolam and tramadol along with scales, a smoking device, a glass tube and a straw with residue. He was placed on a four-year intensive treatment plan.

Linda L. Faulkner-Bowling, 54, West Fifth Street, Salem, stipulated to violating her terms of community control on charges of two counts of theft and two counts of forgery. She was sentenced to six months in Marysville Reformatory and her community control was dishonorably terminated. on Aug. 8, 2011, she had forged and cashed two $6,000 checks belonging to Henry Schnell, 85, keeping the money for herself.

Mohammad A. Khan, 47, Hamilton, pleaded guilty to a lesser offense, three counts of attempted illegal use of supplemental nutritional benefits, and was placed on three years community control. Additionally he was ordered to pay $3,000 in fines and $171 in restitution to the Department of Job and Family Services. Khan is prohibited from working in any establishment which has a Food Stamp Redemption License or accepts EBT benefits. In October of 2014, Khan used food stamps not issued to him to make purchases at the Calcutta Walmart and the East Liverpool Giant Eagle.

Larry J. McWreath, 29, Vienna, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for heroin on Feb. 7, 2015. He was placed on a four-year intervention plan.

Jason M. Zanders, 37, address listed as the Columbiana County Jail, stipulated to violating his community control and was placed for an indefinite term at the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center. Zanders previously had pleaded guilty to breaking and entering for breaking into the Cactus Car Wash in East Liverpool and stealing money in January of 2009.

Tari L. Altenburg, 48, North Market Street, Lisbon, stipulated to probable cause of a probation violation for a trafficking in a counterfeit controlled substance charge. Sentencing is set for Sept. 19.

The trafficking case was for selling less than five grams of cocaine on Dec. 16, 2015.

Aaron D. Shrum, 38, last known address Beaver Falls, Pa., was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of drugs for having heroin, cocaine and oxycodone in his pants pocket on Aug. 17, 2014 when he was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was placed on a four-year intervention plan.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Rachel L. Kreps, 29, U.S. Route 30, Hanoverton, pleaded guilty to illegal manufacturing of drugs, illegal possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, two counts of possession of drugs and one charge of illegal conveyance of a drug of abuse onto the grounds of a detention facility. Sentencing is set for Oct. 17, when she faces at least a mandatory four-year prison term for manufacturing meth, but could face up to 34 years in prison if all the counts can be run consecutively. Fines could also run as high as $67,500. Kreps was manufacturing and had methamphetamines, exceeding 100 times the bulk amount on July 1, 2015 and tried to take meth to the county jail on July 4, 2015. Additionally, she had a small amount of cocaine on May 8, 2015.

Alexander C. Brauning, 30, Dennison, stipulated to violating his community control on a previous aggravated assault conviction. A further hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1. The aggravated assault included pointing a handgun at Ethan Hood and attempting to shoot him in the rear lot behind Night Court Bar on Jan. 21, 2014.

Joshua J. Gatewood, 25, Lisbon-Dungannon Road, Lisbon, stipulated to violating his community control on a previous charge of 12 counts breaking and entering. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and his intervention in lieu of conviction will continue with the current terms and conditions. Gatewood had broken into 12 campers at the Timashamie Campground to steal things on Dec. 6 and 7, 2014.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

Brianne L. Trump, 24, Alice Street, East Palestine, pleaded guilty on Thursday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to a lesser charge of complicity to robbery.

Trump had originally been charged with both robbery and kidnapping after helping two others, Robert L. Crespo, 29, Roberts Road, Leetonia, and Dawnitta Wright, 27, Beaver Street, Lisbon, to lure two men to a Beaver Street apartment in Lisbon. The three then locked them inside and forced them to strip down to their underwear. The two men were beaten and their belongings stolen.

According to Assistant County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart, Trump was cooperative with authorities, and he agrees to dismiss the kidnapping charge at the time of sentencing. However, Weikart will be asking for a two-year prison sentence for Trump at the time of sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept. 16.

The same charges remain pending against Crespo and Wright.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

Heather R. Miller, 34, East Washington Street, Lisbon, was sentenced to two years in prison for having the chemicals to assemble methamphetamines on Jan. 16, 2015. In February, Miller pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of meth, endangering children, possession of drugs and permitting drug abuse. A 9-year-old child was in the home and another child, age 5, lived in the other side of the duplex. Miller’s license was also suspended for six months and she was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine. Miller was allowed to self-report on Aug. 8.

David P. Peachey, 33, McKinnon Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to eight months in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs in April. Peachey also had his license suspended for six months. Peachey had about four grams of cocaine and a trace amount of tetrahydrocannabinol on June 3, 2015.

Randi M. Tucker, 35, Cleveland Street, Salem, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to attempted possession of marijuana. Tucker was placed on a three-year intervention plan. She had accepted delivery of a U.S. postal parcel containing nearly 1,453 grams of marijuana addressed to Marie Tucker on April 5, 2005.

Devin E. Baker, 31, McClure Road, East Palestine, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for .15 grams of heroin in his pants pocket while he was being treated for an overdose on March 26, 2015. Baker was placed on a three-year intervention plan.

Tracey Shields, 42, Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, stipulated to violating her treatment plan, which was then dishonorably terminated. She was placed on community control under the same terms and conditions in the intensive program. She was also ordered to report to the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center and had her license suspended for six months. The possession of drugs charge was for having a metal crack pipe containing a trace amount of cocaine in the area of Grant Street, East Liverpool, on Nov. 16, 2013.

Randy S. Newberry, 23, East Garfield Road, New Springfield, stipulated to violating the terms of her community control and it was dishonorably terminated for complicity to theft and endangering children. Newberry had helped Trevor Heiney in the commission of a robbery and had a 4-year-old child in her care both on Oct. 28, 2011.

Justin S. Downs, 34, Ohio Avenue, Salem, pleaded guilty to illegal conveyance of a drug of abuse onto the grounds of a detention facility and trafficking in drugs. Downs took heroin to the jail on May 6 and sold less than five grams of cocaine on Dec. 2, 2014. He faces up to four and a half years in prison, fined $15,000 and a five-year license suspension. Sentencing is set for Oct. 17.

Mark A. Clendenning Jr., 24, Globe Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to nine months in prison for trafficking in drugs. He was also ordered to make restitution of $1,050 to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force, and his license was suspended for six months. Clendenning sold 324 grams, nearly three-quarters of a pound, of marijuana to a confidential informant for $1,050 on April 28, 2014.

Barrett pried open a window at the Convenient Food Mart, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, on Dec. 5, 2014 to steal cigarettes and a safe among other items.

Donald C. Fiore, 49, Chris Avenue, Washingtonville, was sentenced to three years in prison on Dec. 2, 2014 for OVI and OVI with previous convictions in the previous 20 years. He was granted judicial release following a hearing on July 29. He was placed on house arrest for the first 60 days.

Shane M. Bagley, 38, Arch Street, Salem, was placed on five years community control after pleading guilty in May to two counts of possession drugs. Bagley had heroin and cocaine in his vehicle on July 5, 2015.

Columbiana County Common Pleas

Marcus L. “Free” Copeland, 30, Smithfield Street, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to two counts of possession of drugs and two counts of having weapons while under a disability. Sentencing is set for Sept. 30. He faces up to 12 years in prison if all the counts can run consecutively.

On March 12, 2015, Copeland had at least five grams, but less than 10 grams of heroin, and at least 10 grams, but less than 20 grams of cocaine, both during the execution of a search warrant. At the same time, he had $652 used or intended for use in a drug-related offense.
