Columbiana County Sheriff

A deputy and a reserve deputy found a suspicious vehicle parked at Highlandtown Lake in the lot off of Osbourne Road at 11:25 p.m. Monday. There was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, where Bret Ahearn and a a female child were inside the vehicle. After several minutes, Cole Sprouse and another female child walked up from the lake. After obtaining permission, deputies searched the vehicle and found a package of marijuana. Ahearn was cited with personal use marijuana. The parents of the girls were contacted to pick them up.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Dave Merriman, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, reported his son was out of control at 7:45 p.m. Monday. The son, David S. Merriman, reportedly attacked his father in front of an EMT, Rick Jones, who said he saw Merriman strike his father several times in the head and the father had visible injuries. Brittany Spaulding also had visible injuries, which she said were due to her brother assaulting her. Merriman, 26, was charged with domestic violence.

Bonnie and Randy Moore, Padgett Road, East Palestine, reported at 5:50 p.m. Monday, someone stole several items from their house sometime between about 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Michelle McKenzie, Knox School Road, Homeworth, reported at 6:21 p.m. Monday someone used her debit card from Buckeye State Credit Union on Oct. 23 to make a $73 purchase at a Meijer store in Aurora, Ill.

Paul Davis, Metz Road, New Waterford, reported at 2:25 p.m. Monday the neighbor threatened him while at the end of his driveway. Davis said he has been having ongoing problems with the neighbor, which he usually ignores. However, on Monday the neighbor told him if he comes near the fence he would “take him out.” Additionally, Davis said the neighbor has threatened to come over and kill him, his dog and his cow.

Gary Tuttle, Buffalo Road, Hanoverton, reported at 8:30 a.m. Monday his vehicle has been stolen. He gave his daughter the vehicle because she needed transportation, but his daughter told him she took it to a home on U.S. Route 30 about a mile west of Kensington to have work done on it because the engine was blown. Tuttle went there on Saturday to get his vehicle and a woman there told him his daughter sold the vehicle to someone named Dillon. The vehicle had a missing wheel and the hood was off, so he could not tow it at that time. He went by on Monday morning and the vehicle was gone.

Terri Palmer, Lisbon Road, Lisbon, reported at 7:19 p.m. Monday she was concerned about her 32-year-old son, Mark Palmer, who she knew was at a home on Walnut Street in Salem with a woman. Deputies told her the Salem police checked on her son and he was fine. She said she is in the process of getting power of attorney for him due to medical reasons.

Deputies found an abandoned 2002 Hyundai Sonata without a registration parked in the middle of Dan Smith Road in Yellow Creek Township at 10:53 p.m. Monday. There were no items found in the vehicle and it was towed.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Martha Welsh, state Route 644, Salineville, reported at 10:07 p.m. Oct. 15 she is in the process of separating from her husband and found his farming checkbook in the usual spot, but her checkbook was missing from the same cabinet. She canceled the checks.

Lake Tomahawk officer Ray DiCross asked deputies to assist at 10:48 p.m. Saturday after several people reported they were at a party and one man identified only as Luke was jumped by three men. Deputies went to a Pawnee Cove address and spoke to several guests at a Halloween party, who all said it was the other men who started the fight. The matter is under investigation.

Bryan Brim, Bower Road, Minerva, reported at 11:25 a.m. Saturday he and his girlfriend, Erica Houze got into an argument about money. She left before deputies arrived, but deputies left a message for her to contact them and give her side of what happened.

Peggy May, state Route 9, Hanoverton, reported a possible overdose at 3:08 a.m. Monday. Dustin Beresford told deputies he received a call from Connor Perry at Sparkle in Salem asking him to come and get him. After driving Perry to a Salem home, Perry slumped over and became unresponsive. Beresford became worried and drove Perry to Hanoverton to his friend’s house, Morgan May, whose mother Peggy May is a nurse. She had given Perry a dose of Narcan and he had remained unresponsive. However, Perry then began to awaken and was eventually taken by ambulance.

Jim Sturgeon, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, reported at 5 p.m. Friday he received a call from the principal at United Local stating someone may be trying to lure his son to the football game to fight with him. The school was investigating the information they were given about the possibility of the fight. There were reportedly no direct threats made.

Jonathan Gullett, McKaig Road, Hanoverton, who was highly intoxicated reported at 11:28 p.m. Friday his wife accused him of cheating on her, pushed him to the ground and he wanted to pursue criminal charges. The wife, Lisa Carter, said she found her husband with a girl and Gullett tried to grab Carter to talk to her twice, but she pushed him away both times. Gullett was told if he still wants to pursue criminal charges, he should contact the sheriff the next day when he was sober

Columbiana County Sheriff

The sheriff’s office responded to a report of a truck partially in the roadway on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 7:07 p.m. Friday and the driver was behind the wheel and unresponsive. A deputy arrived and, after the driver was cleared medically by EMTs, administered a field sobriety test and then cited the driver for OVI. The driver was not identified in the report, and a dispatcher was contacted but she said she was unable to provide the information.

The sheriff’s office received information that a motorist for whom they had an arrest warrant would be traveling on U.S. Route 30 with drugs in tow. Deputies stopped the vehicle on Route 30 in Hanover Township at 4:42 p.m. Friday and found marijuana and related paraphernalia in the vehicle. The deputy was assisted by state troopers. The report did not identify who was pulled over and served with the arrest warrant.

Tony Parks, Miller Road, Leetonia, called for a deputy at 7:05 p.m. Thursday and was met at the residence by Linda Derrick and Parks. Derrick said she was hanging out at a house at the corner of Lodge and Woodville roads when Mark Feesel had her get into a truck and began accusing her of breaking into his home last December. She said Feesel held a shotgun in his lap while questioning her and then pointed it at her, but he told her it was unloaded. Derrick was too drunk to give a full statement and was told to come to the office the next day. Deputies attempted to contact Feesel but were unsuccessful.

Michelle Lowe, Taylor Road, Negley, reported there were goats loose on the roadway at 10:09 a.m. Sunday. Lowe had rounded up the goats and placed them in her pen by the time a deputy arrived. The deputy then located the owner, Johnny Dailey, who lives on state Route 154.

Tim Smith, Tower Road, Salem, reported someone tried to pry open the lock on his trailer Saturday night.

Amanda Burnham, state Route 45, Salem, reported waking up Sunday morning and wanting her boyfriend to leave because he was drunk, but Robert DiRocco refused. Deputies spoke with DiRocco, who said he told Burnham he was leaving before she called. Deputies remained until he left with a friend.

Michelle Kireta, Gamble Road, Lisbon, reported Saturday she may have been the victim of a Facebook scam after being informed her she had won $150,000 from some promotion, but an upfront $1,000 processing fee was required. Kireta sent the money via Western Union but she later canceled the transaction after learning it was a scam. Kireta had been contacted initially via Facebook by a “friend” but the friend called her later and said she never contacted her about this promotion. The friend called Kireta to tell her that Kireta’s Facebook account had been hacked.

Dispatchers received a hang-up call from Talina Mayle, Bye Road, East Palestine, regarding a domestic dispute at 6:51 p.m. Saturday. Deputies spoke with Ms. Mayle and Marce Mayle, who said they had only been arguing. Ms. Mayle left for the night with her three children.

Martha Pinkerton, Bell Road, Lisbon, reported at 5:35 p.m. Saturday someone fired a weapon at her home. Deputies checked with neighbors, who said the shooting was coming from Morris Road, but deputies did not see or hear anyone shooting.

A deputy on patrol found Dustin Phillips in a parked vehicle in the sheriff’s shooting range off County Home Road in Center Township at 7:48 p.m. Saturday. Phillips, of Winona Road, Salem, said he pulled off to make a phone call. While speaking with Phillips, the deputy smelled the aroma of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and Phillips said there was a bowl under his seat and a small bag of marijuana in his gym bag. He was cited for marijuana possession.

Deputy Luke Skidmore was driving on state Route 45 near Depot Road in Perry Township when a deer ran into the side of his cruiser at 10:34 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies were called to Wallace Road, East Palestine, at 8:48 p.m. Friday, where Cindy Beauregard reported she was attempting to move out when she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend’s mother, Barbara Greaves, who said she was there to make sure Beauregard took only what belonged to her. Greaves said she grabbed Beauregard’s arm after she came at her. Beauregard then said she did not want anything done and just wanted to get her property. The parties agreed to stay away from each other.

Junior Straley, Golf Club Drive, Salem Township, reported Friday he was out walking when Dan Sanor rode by on a tractor and began to yell at Straley and his son.

A deputy on patrol came across a car with a cracked windshield on state Route 154, just west of Negley, at 6:09 p.m. Wednesday. The deputy stopped the driver and cited him for having an obstructed windshield and for marijuana. The driver was not identified in the report.

Paula Liberatore, Middle Street, Homeworth, reported at 9:04 a.m. Thursday her son’s ex-girlfriend was at the house, banging on the door and swearing. The son, Bradley Drake, said he broke up with her some time ago, but she still shows up at his home, follows him around and yells and curses at him for no reason. Neighbors also came to the house to report the same woman, Tiffany Nixon, shows up at their homes and causes problems also.

Bradley Drake, Middle Street, Homeworth, reported at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday sometime overnight someone stole his tan Chevy Cavalier. The keys were not in it and it was parked in the driveway at around midnight. However, his mother did not see it at 4:30 a.m. and believed her son must have parked somewhere else.

Jennings Morris, U.S. Route 30, Lisbon, reported at 6:37 a.m. Thursday his daughter-in-law’s son, Matthew Crowl, took his vehicle to work Thursday without permission and does not have a license.

Tracy Lemley, Riggs Drive, East Palestine, was transported to the Salem Region Medical Center for injuries and reported she was assaulted by her boyfriend, James Andrews Sr. She told deputies she was thrown to the floor, kicked, hit in the head with a 12-pack of Diet Coke, had a full can of beer smashed into her forehead and had gravel shoved into her mouth. Andrews, 46, was charged with assault.

Rachael Davis, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, reported at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday she came home to find money missing from the change jar in the kitchen. Her husband found dry wall lying on the garage floor and the garage window pushed in. The jar was missing about $20 to $30 in quarters. Davis then found her 14 carat Leo diamond necklace and her husband’s 14 carat wedding band missing. Her husband called her brother, who reportedly confessed he is on drugs again, admitted to stealing the items and stated he took the items to Steven’s Jewelers in East Liverpool. She was going there in the morning to look for them.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Deanna Long, Spillway Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:35 p.m. Monday her boyfriend came to her home and refused to leave. He left right before deputies arrived, but returned to explain he had been there because his paycheck was directly deposited into Long’s account and he believed she would give him the $800 belonging to him.

Denny Bates, owner of the Vittle Village, state Route 14, East Palestine, reported at 12:39 p.m. Friday, $300 was missing from the store safe. He has the employees make cash drops into the safe with numbered envelopes. One recorded drop was missing.

Shawn Hoff, state Route 46, Lisbon, asked deputies to check on his father at the Twin Oaks trailer court, state Route 45, Lisbon, at 9:42 p.m. Monday after receiving a disturbing message from him. Deputies found Monte L. Hoff, 63, on the floor unresponsive. He was transported to SRMC.

Sherman Griggs, Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, reported at 3:09 p.m. Monday there was a vehicle parked half in the roadway in front of his home. Deputies found a red 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and contacted the owner, Janine Calhoon, who said the vehicle broke down and it would be removed right away.

Nathan Powell, Sandy Creek Road, Minerva, reported at 4:25 p.m. Sunday his neighbor became angry with him, claiming he threw rocks at his house when he was mowing grass, and also threatened to shoot him. Deputies spoke to the neighbor, who said he was just upset and did not mean what he said.

Penny Morgan, Stookesberry Road, Lisbon, reported at 3:10 p.m. Monday she messaged her cousin on Facebook, confronting him about some ongoing family problems and he replied by messaging threats against her and her brother. A copy of the messages were taken to the sheriff’s office and will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

Logan Wilson, Winona Road, Salem, reported at 11:41 p.m. Thursday someone paintballed his home.

Mia Conn, Miller Road, Leetonia, reported at 7:18 p.m. Saturday her brother was asked to leave, but he refused to go. Deputies spoke to the brother, Jared Phillips, who said he has been there for three weeks and he knows she has to have him evicted.

A mother on Front Street, Negley, reported at 6:38 p.m. Saturday her 16-year-old son was acting aggressively toward her. Additionally, the boy was punching their small dog in the face the previous night. Deputies spoke to the teen, who admitted to punching the dog because he stepped in dog feces with his bare feet. He was taken by Negley EMS to East Liverpool City Hospital for an evaluation.

Mary Jane Reynolds, Louisville, reported at 7:03 p.m. Friday she had been working at her booth at Rogers Sale when a young man wearing a green backpack stole about $300 from her counter.

A mother on Depot Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:14 p.m. Sunday her 14-year-old son has been destroying things around the house because she shut off the Wi-Fi connection. He grabbed a knife, attempted to stab a pop bottle, missed and cut his own finger. She declined medical treatment for the boy.

Michelle Davis, Girard, reported at 6:16 p.m. Sunday she recently divorced her husband, Henry Davis, and went to their property on Beacon Light Road in Center Township to retrieve some property. She had been given until Saturday night to get her things, but was unable to do so. Davis and his brother allowed her to remove items, but told her she must leave soon. She loaded a pickup and left.

Sharon Owens of Arrow Disposal in Salem reported at 11:04 a.m. Friday there has been an ongoing problem in the area of Churchill and Scroggs roads in Elkrun Township with someone pushing or dragging garbage totes down the road with their vehicle and destroying them. This has been occurring sometime between Thursday night and Saturday morning for the past four weeks.

Samye Householder, Marble Road, Kensington, reported at 2:02 p.m. Sunday two vehicles were found submerged in the pond within Rosebud Mining on Myers Road. One was a green 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee reported stolen on Sept. 8 in Carroll County. The second was a red 1988 Dodge Dakota, also reported stolen on Sept. 8, but in Columbiana County.

Ben Kibler, Main Street, Hanoverton, reported at 1:45 p.m. Friday he found some suspicious activity on his credit report where someone had opened accounts in Lehigh, Florida, with Comcast and DirectTV using his name and information. The accounts have been turned over for collections with bills of $807 and $394. Kibler said he has never lived in Lehigh, Florida.

Timothy Yasilk, Bell Road, Lisbon, reported he hired a worker to demolish a trailer at Guilford Lake and the worker did not return three saws. It was originally reported to the highway patrol, but the worksite was later determined not to have been on state property.

Marty Thorn, state Route 39, Wellsville, reported a domestic dispute in a moving vehicle near the home at 12:42 a.m. Saturday. Deputies checked the area, but did not find anyone.

A suspicious vehicle was reported in the area of Geary’s on state Route 344 at 4:27 a.m. Sunday. Deputies did not find anyone.

Troy Ayers, Fair Avenue, Salem, reported at 8:13 p.m. Sunday he received a call from his sister asking him to pick her up because she was being verbally abused by her boyfriend. Deputies responded to Middleton Road, Columbiana, and found both the sister, Tami Strouse, and the boyfriend, Dave Smith, intoxicated. Both said it was only an argument. Strouse gathered her belongings and left with Ayers.

Arleen Wise, state Route 45, West Point, reported at 4 p.m. Saturday she received an email from someone with the name “ted” all in lowercase letters and stating in the subject line “I have a gun.” She did not open the email and planned to delete it due to it being a possible scam.

Carl Aiken III, Tampa, Fla., asked deputies to check on his son on Elkton Road, Lisbon, at 9:54 a.m. Monday. Aiken said he has not spoken to his son in five years and the phone number has been disconnected. Deputies verified Carl Aiken IV appears to live at the home, but did not speak to anyone there.

Sue Sasic, Carmel Achor Road, Rogers, reported at 2:09 p.m. Friday someone broke into her barn and stole several items sometime between 4 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Friday.

Kiera Phillips, Salem Alliance Road, Salem, reported at 6:47 p.m. Saturday she was being harassed by someone she knows. A deputy attempted to contact the man but could not.

Deputies told the occupants of a vehicle parked at Bowman Cemetery at 9:49 p.m. Saturday they were not allowed to be there.

A deputy checked on a report of a suspicious person in the area of Clewell and Votaw drives at 8:58 p.m. Saturday but found no one.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Don Snedeker, Richardson Avenue, Negley, reported at 5:01 p.m. Tuesday reported he and his wife, Nicole Snedeker, argued earlier and she punched him in the head in front of the children. She then left the home. He did not want to pursue charges.

Martha Welsh, state Route 644, Salineville, reported at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday her husband kicked their 7-year-old son in the knee with his steel-toed boot. He also chased the boy around the island in the kitchen until she intervened and left the house with the son. The boy had a red mark on his knee and was wearing his football pants including knee pads. Paul Welsh Sr., 41, was charged with domestic violence.

Emily Bennett, Columbiana-Waterford Road, Columbiana, reported at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday sometime overnight someone took the cards she left in her mailbox to be mailed out.

Dan Imhoff, Speidel Road, Hanoverton, reported a suspicious vehicle at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies did not find any vehicles around.

Melissa Dennis, Lisbon Road, Hanoverton, reported a possible burglary in progress at 6:09 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies are investigating the report.

Constantina Covert, Valley Road, Salem, reported at 12:52 a.m. Monday her neighbor had put up a large flood light on his property and it is so bright it is shining through the curtains. Deputies told Covert it is a civil matter.

Terry Conrad, Fife Coal Road, Wellsville, reported at 11:47 a.m. Wednesday they are having problems with people trespassing on their property off of Fife Coal Road. Recently two men reportedly parked across the street and walked onto their property carrying shovels. The posted “No Trespassing” signs have been torn down, but they are getting ready to post them again.

George Clemmer, state Route 154, Negley, reported at 10:08 p.m. Oct. 3, there was suspicious activity across the road. Deputies checked all the farm equipment there and found it all to be secure.

Robert Jones, McSwiggen Road, Salineville, reported at 4:34 p.m. Wednesday he wanted Ronda Riggs removed. Jones said there is not domestic dispute, he just wanted her to leave. She told deputies she was trying to find a ride and really did not have anywhere to go. Deputies provided her with a phone number of a possible location.

Robert Norman, Lisbon Street, Hanoverton, reported suspicious people in the area at 12:33 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies checked the area, but did not find anyone.

Nancy Agnew, Votaw Circle, Lisbon, reported at 12:14 p.m. Thursday she found her wedding band and engagement rings were missing from her home.

Chuck Tarnovich, Cameron Road, Wellsville, reported at 1:07 p.m. Thursday his neighbor’s beagle had been barking all day and it’s an ongoing problem. Deputies spoke to Jill Kinsey, who said she had not noticed that dog barking, but knows one of her dogs barks when her ducks are walking around in the yard. She said they are considering relocating that dog and the ducks to the family’s farm.

George Taylor, Clewell Drive, Lisbon, reported at 12:26 p.m. Thursday he and his girlfriend, Tammy Richards, found her car with the passenger door open and the front passenger tire flat on Thursday morning.

A deputy was called to Teegarden and Woodsdale roads in Hanover Township at 4:10 p.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious man walking toward Salem after parking his vehicle on a rock. The deputy found the vehicle and the driver, who was identified as Roger Schultheis, who said that he was driving south on Woodsdale and noticed a garage sale and attempted to turn around and misjudged the turn and struck a small rock and got stuck. He was able to get his vehicle removed from the rock and left the area.

Jennifer Lucas, Crestview Road, Columbiana, reported at 9 p.m. Friday she returned home and noticed that someone threw nails in her driveway again and she believed it was her ex-husband, Jayson Fitzsimmons, who was doing it, as he had already broken a protection order she had out against him. A deputy contacted Fitzsimmons and told him to stay away from the property or he would be charged with violating the protection order. Fitzsimmons told the deputy he had not been on Crestview Road for two months.

An East Liverpool woman requested a deputy check on her grandfather on Steubenville Pike in Lisbon at 1:27 p.m. Saturday as she had not been able to contact him. The deputy found the man at his home and there were no problems. The man said he would check his phone.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Constantina Covert, Valley Road, Salem, reported at 4:26 p.m. Saturday her landlord, Delores McEldowney, recently put up a security camera pointed into her bedroom. Covert said she put up a large tarp to block the camera’s view, but on Saturday the tarp was torn down.

Steve Wilson, Y and O Road, Wellsville, asked deputies to check on Jeffrey Ori next door at 7:53 p.m. Thursday. Ori told deputies everything was fine.

Anthony Salem, Fairfield School Road, Columbiana, reported at 10:30 p.m. Monday a vehicle pulled into his driveway, a man got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and placed an unusual object on his fence post at the end of the driveway. After he left, Salem went down the driveway and found the object to be a coffee can with rotating colored plastic eggs, which spun around in the wind. It appeared to be a yard ornament. Deputies took possession of the item.

Shawn Watson, no address listed, asked deputies at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday to go check on another man at Paradise Lake. Deputies spoke to the man’s ex-girlfriend and Watson, who said they were concerned he was going to harm himself because he was acting strangely. The man told deputies he was not going to harm himself, he was only upset about the break up and wanted to sit at the campsite and drink a few beers. A phone number was left in case he later decided he needed to talk to someone.

Tammy Souders, state Route 154, Rogers, reported at 8:59 p.m. Sunday someone deliberately set her car on fire. She said it appeared someone lit a newspaper and placed it inside the gas tank.

John Buyler, Millrock Road, New Waterford, reported at 9 p.m. Sunday there was a suspicious vehicle on Millrock Road. A deputy found the car belonged to Karen Hayes of New Waterford and there was no one around it.

Roy Moffett, state Route 170, East Palestine, reported at 6:14 p.m. Sunday he believed his nephew Roy Moffett III took a battery from his truck. He declined to provide a statement.

A Homeworth area man reported at 2:20 p.m. Sunday he found four marijuana plants in large pots while out riding his ATV. He wanted the pots removed. Deputies disposed of the plants.

David Hill, Hadley Road extension, East Palestine, reported at 10:19 p.m. Saturday there was a prowler in the area and someone was banging on his window. Deputies did not find anyone.

Two teens, both 15, were reported missing from the Rogers Group Home at 7:20 p.m. Monday. The boys reportedly walked out onto the deck and ran into the woods. Andrew J. Christmann II and Noah D.S. Dennis were entered into the missing persons database.

John Doss, Depot Street, Rogers, reported at 7:24 p.m. Monday two teenage boys entered the store and one grabbed a 24 box of cigars before running out of the store. The boys were reportedly found to be the runaways from the group home.

Christine Borg, state Route 164, Lisbon, reported at 2:25 a.m. Sunday her intoxicated husband refused to quit going into her room and will not leave her alone. Deputies talked to Charles Borg, who claimed his wife is crazy and they were arguing so he followed her into the bedroom to intentionally get her upset. He was laughing about his actions and deputies explained he should give his wife some space.

Delores McEldowney, Valley Road, Salem, reported at 6:37 p.m. Saturday there was someone unsafely shooting and setting off fireworks. Constantina Covert told deputies she was shooting in a safe manner and the only fireworks being used were sparklers. deputies checked where she was shooting, which was a 20-foot hillside.

Christina Mattern, Oak Grove Road, Salineville, reported at 6:42 p.m. Saturday her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend came to the home and assaulted her. Deputies charged Angel Robertson for assault.

Dan Dillan, Kirk Road, Columbiana, reported at 4:12 p.m. Friday his neighbor’s dogs bark constantly. A deputy spoke with the man where the dogs were confined, and he said they belonged to his daughter and that Dillan taunts the dogs when they are outside by stopping and staring at them while he walks up his driveway and doesn’t move away until they begin barking. The deputy warned the man they could be charged for barking dogs if the noise continued.

Miranda Coff, Bayard Road, Minerva, reported at 4:48 p.m. Friday her daughter and friend were walking along Bayard Road when a green Jeep stopped and a suspicious man got out and they were worried he was going to take them. Police and relatives checked the area for the Jeep but could not find it.

Megan House, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 5:33 p.m. Saturday someone removed money from the home.

Dina Hurst, Raley Road, New Waterford, reported at 10:21 p.m. Saturday there was a suspicious vehicle in the area. Hurst later found out the vehicle belonged to someone looking for a relative.

Deputies were called to Bowman’s Cemetery at 10:23 p.m. Saturday for a group of people being loud. It was discovered the group were ghost hunting in the area and attempting to find where Pretty Boy Floyd died. The group was told where the death site was and to move on from the cemetery.

A deputy was called to a home on Dutchtown School Road, Rogers, at 8:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of a 12-year-old girl being unruly and threatening suicide after being asked to do the dishes by her father. North Star EMS were called, and the girl was taken to the East Liverpool City Hospital for an evaluation.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Maria Kobus, Carrollton, reported Thursday her vehicle was parked at Hull’s Super Duper on state Route 172 in Hanover Township when it was backed into by a vehicle driven by Jacqueline A. Bentfield, Roosevelt Avenue, Salem.

Deputies responded to a home on England Drive at the request of Richard White, Riley Avenue, East Liverpool, who said he is not allowed at the residence but wanted to pick up his mail. There was no one home at the residence, and White was advised to change his address with the postal service.

David McKee, Desellem Road, Lisbon, reported Thursday his neighbor was cutting his trees and the branches were falling onto McKee’s property. The neighbor was contacted by deputies, and he agreed to clean up the branches in the morning.

Anthony Morak, Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, reported Wednesday he had purchaed a four-wheeler that day and left it at a friend’s on state Route 154 in Middleton Township. Morak went to get the title transferred, and when he returned, the four-wheeler was gone.

Jeff Seiskal, state Route 558, Leetonia, reported Sunday two aluminum ladders taken from his rental property by the daughter of his tenants.

Opal Andric, Rose Drive, Lisbon, reported Sunday receiving a threatening message from a person she knows. She wanted a report on file.

Cassandra Ramage, state Route 30, Lisbon, reported Sunday she wanted the mother of her boyfriend’s child removed from her property. Ramage was watching the 8-year-old child after her father got called out to work, and the child’s mother came to pick her up too early for her noon visitation time. Deputies advised the mother to contact her attorney about the visitation issue and stood by until the mother left.

Jerry Amato, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported Sunday morning finding a child standing in the middle of state Route 170 in Negley. He stopped to get her off the road, and she ran into a home. Amato knocked on the door and the child answered, still without an adult, and he asked if her parents were present. She said her dad was sleeping, and Amato asked her to wake him up, but no adult came to the door. Deputies arrived and were able to get the child to answer the door and she pointed out her dad’s bedroom. Deputies were able to awaken her father, Eddie Gorby, who was advised what occurred. Deputies reported they made sure the child would be tended to before clearing the scene.

Columbiana County Sheriff

John Pethel, Dyke Road, Negley, reported someone had been shooting Wednesday evening and he could hear bullets striking tree limbs on his property. He believes the shots were coming from Pancake-Clarkson Road and a deputy patrolled the area until dark but did not see or hear any activity.

Charles A. Slocum Jr., 23, Brookfield Avenue, Lisbon, was charged with abduction and domestic violence following a domestic dispute at his home at 6:58 p.m. Thursday. Slocum reportedly put his girlfriend into a headlock and forced her into small room in the garage, locking her in and then boarding up the garage so no one could get in. Slocum also threatened her with a screw driver by putting it near her face and telling her he would use it if she did not quit screaming and crying. Slocum eventually let his girlfriend out and she told a relative what happened, and he called the sheriff’s office.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Karen Lanious, state Route 45, West Point, reported at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday she argued with her 16-year-old daughter, who was refusing to go to school. Lanious left and when she returned the teen was packing her clothes to leave. She told her daughter she was not to go anywhere and then left for a hay sale. When Lanious returned her daughter was gone. A missing person report was filed for Tomico Irwin.

Connie Dattilio, state Route 344, Columbiana, reported at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday Steven Fatherly has been driving repeatedly past her home and also sits in the vehicle across the street at the junk yard.

Arthur Porter, Roller Coaster Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday he wanted someone removed from his property. Before deputies arrived, Porter said Clint Geho left walking with a gas container and he no longer wanted Geho staying at his home because he has not paid him back money he owes him. Deputies found Geho walking. He said he was going to get gas for his vehicle and then he would be leaving with the children and Porter’s daughter.

Marilyn Wamer, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday her neighbor was shooting. Kyle Hunt told deputies he was shooting in his backyard, but deputies found he had no backstop to shoot into. Deputies explained he should build a backstop so he can shoot safely.

Melanie Adams, Vale Road, Rogers, reported a burglary in progress at her grandmother’s house on Carmel Achor Road, Negley, at 11:26 p.m. Tuesday. Betty Dailey had called Adams and stated someone was trying to get in through the cellar door. She also told deputies someone knocked on the front door twice. Deputies checked the area, but found no damage and no one around.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Susan Brown, Hanoverton, reported at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday a possible domestic dispute at a home on Wisner Road. Jacob Fisher and Nicole Linger both said they were having a civil argument regarding a mess Fisher made when he returned home from hunting.

Heather Bandy, Center Road, Homeworth, reported at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday sometime in the past two weeks someone stole four Marine Interstate batteries out of her golf cart as well as some old eight-volt batteries and car batteries she had.

Tammy Melott, state Route 164, Leetonia, reported at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday someone stole her ATV while she was working. The matter is under investigation.

Jon Kidder, Depot Road, Lisbon, reported at 11:22 p.m. Monday he heard someone tapping on his windows and turning on the outside faucet.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Rita Nutter, King Road, Salem, reported at 8:08 a.m. Monday her 19-year-old son was acting out of control, angry and refusing to go to his doctor’s appointment that morning. He began breaking a radio and glasses, but did not harm his mother. She was given the number to the Counseling Center. Deputies also helped convince him to go with his mother to his doctor’s appointment for the knee cap he dislocated six weeks ago.

Patricia Lautzenheiser, Winona Road, Homeworth, reported at 6:32 a.m. Monday there was a verbal dispute with her husband. Floyd Lautzenheiser told deputies his wife was angry with him about his dogs peeing on the mattress and that he was not helping her get rid of the mattress. He went to work and she was making arrangements about the mattress.

Damien Welsh, an employee of the Rogers Group Home, state Route 7, Rogers, reported at 8:16 p.m. Friday, there was a fight. One boy was transported to the Tobin Center and the case will be turned over to the juvenile prosecutor.

While eastbound on U.S. Route 62 at 3:23 a.m. Monday a deputy saw a light on in a vehicle at Infinite Auto. The driver’s door was open and the keys were in the ignition. Deputies removed the keys, placed them under the driver’s seat and secured the vehicle.

Josh Bright, state Route 14, New Waterford, reported horses on the roadway at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. A deputy and a trooper met in the area of the horses and followed them to the home of Atlee and Mary Shetler, Kibler Road. After confirming the horses belonged to them, authorities helped them get the horses back inside the pen. It is believed someone accidentally left the gate open.

Ashley Kent, Thomas Road, Wellsville, reported at 4:39 p.m. Monday her $400 40-inch Sony flat-screen TV was missing. She was gone between 3 and 3:30 p.m. Several neighbors were outside at the time of the theft, but no one saw anyone in the trailer.

Stan Cunningham, Fife Coal Road, Wellsville, reported at 6:58 p.m. Monday someone stole five 18-inch aluminum rims with the tires attached from a storage shed on his property. They were there on Friday, but noticed missing at 8 a.m. Monday.

Dale Call, Forbes Road, Wellsville, reported at 7:14 p.m. Monday neighborhood dogs are always barking, but they were not barking at that time. Deputies asked him to notify them or the dog warden if the dogs act up again.

Bob Barker, of Hilltop Lawn and Garden, state Route 14, Salem, reported at 2:29 p.m. Monday that Anthony J. Dagati, on Sept. 24 purchased several lawn care items – a chainsaw, leaf blower, weed eaters, etc. – by writing a check for $1,212. On Sept. 25, Barker learned there was not enough money in Dagati’s account to cover the checks. He called Dagati about returning the items or getting additional money to cover the purchases. Dagati told Barker to do what he needed to do and hung up.

Kimberly Andric, Whinnery Road, Salem, reported at 1:14 a.m. Tuesday on Monday her daughter, Carmen Andric, got into trouble with the law after wrecking her car and having drugs in her purse. The mother said her daughter then came home and went to bed for a while, so the mother decided to take some pills from her daughter’s purse and flush them down the toilet. She was flushing them when her daughter came in the bathroom. Kimberly Andric was holding the door closed with her foot and Carmen Andric reportedly punched a hole in the door, grabbed her mother’s hair and pulled it through the door. Deputies charged Carmen Andric, 24, with domestic violence and resisting arrest after having difficulties getting her into the police cruiser.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Monte Mackall, Sell Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:08 p.m. Sunday there was some tension building in the home and wanted deputies to make certain nothing escalated. Betty Mackall told deputies she and her son would go stay at her mother’s for the night. Monte Mackall decided to go for an evaluation, but later left the hospital before being treated and while reportedly irritated and intoxicated.

A possible burglary was reported at 10:32 p.m. Friday at the Opportunity Homes on Dyke Road. Deputies checked the area, but did not locate anything.

A deputy stopped a vehicle at 5:23 p.m. Friday, which was reportedly traveling 68 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. 30 near state Route 518. While speaking with the driver, Justin Campbell of Lehigh Acres, Fla., the deputy could smell a strong odor of marijuana. A passenger, Cole A. Sprouse, North Lincoln Avenue, Salem, reportedly admitted to having 20 grams of marijuana in a backpack. The deputy found a full ziplock sandwich bag of marijuana, a lighter and numerous unopened Cigarillos. Campbell was cited with speeding and Sprouse was cited with possession of marijuana.

Barbara Todd, Farr Street, Rogers, reported at 5:53 p.m. Thursday there was someone acting suspiciously on bicycles. Deputies checked, but found no one on bicycles.

Sarina Sprouse, Millrock Road, Rogers, reported at 5:33 p.m. Thursday her son’s four-wheeler and mini bike were stolen from their property.

Aaron Laney, Foundry Hill Road, Hanoverton, reported at 5:03 p.m. Thursday a red S-10 pickup drove onto his property and two men were cutting wood. While deputies were enroute, the vehicle left. Deputies checked the area, but did not find the vehicle.

Marie Kennedy, Pancake Clarkson Road, Rogers, reported at 5 p.m. Thursday she came to her home and found an electric cord running to the neighbor’s home. The neighbor’s home had an electric cord hanging from one of the windows. Kennedy decided not to pursue charges.

Stewart Ward, Pine Hollow Road, Rogers, reported at 3:43 p.m. Thursday he was walking in his field and noticed what appeared to be part of a coin machine. He was unsure how it got there. Deputies attempted to locate the coin machine, but were unable to find it.

Steve Galchick, Depot Road, Lisbon, reported at 9:12 p.m. Sunday someone was throwing rocks at trailers in the area of Guilford Highlands. Deputies did not find anyone.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Fred Leonard, Main Street, Beloit, reported at 12:38 p.m. Sunday someone vandalized his 34-foot camper. He placed it on a vacant lot off Hartley Road on Friday and when he checked on it on Sunday he found someone had pried open the door, smashed the windows out and broke all the marker lights.

Glenn Hershberger, Butcher Road, Salem, reported at 8:29 a.m. Sunday the sign in his front yard was knocked off the post.

Tammy Brown, state Route 154, Lisbon, reported at 2:32 a.m. Saturday there was an argument with a gun involved. Deputies and two Lisbon police officers arrived. Brown’s husband, Scott Brown, had put the gun away. However, earlier he had reportedly gone outside with the handgun, fired a shot and came back inside. Tammy Brown said she was not threatened and Scott Brown said he just fired the shot into the ground. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

David Fonner and Petra Montgomery, Carlisle Road, Lisbon, reported at 11:59 p.m. Saturday someone they know visited them and after the person left they found his 9 mm handgun was missing. The matter is under investigation.

Janet Mackall, Creek Road, New Waterford, reported at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday there was a suspicious vehicle in the driveway, but deputies could not locate a vehicle in the area.

Terrie Crawford, state Route 344, Leetonia, reported at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday, she was told she won something on Facebook and they asked for personal information to claim her winnings. She called the “friend” asking for this information and learned her Facebook had been hacked.

Raymond Tohm, Mattix Road, Lisbon, reported at 9:35 a.m. Saturday he found the lock broken on his gun cabinet this morning and his wife’s new Ruger LC9 9mm pistol missing. He was uncertain exactly when the lock was broken and gun was taken.

Melissa Frederick, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, reported at 2:45 p.m. Saturday she believed someone pried their way into her house when she was not home, but nothing appeared missing. Someone cut her padlock off her shed, but again nothing was missing.

Shane McCutcheon, no address listed, reported at 1:41 p.m. Saturday he drove his father-in-law, Richard White, to an England Drive home to retrieve his mail from his sister and McCutcheon got into an argument with another man at the home, Daniel Schuler. White said he just wanted his mail and his sister gave it too him.

Ruth Allison, Pancake-Clarkson Road, Rogers, reported at 8:48 a.m. Sunday someone spray painted the house that she had just purchased at auction and one or more of the windows were broken.

Lisa Sturgeon, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, reported at 12:20 p.m. Monday her son was being harassed by another kid from United Local Schools.

A deputy was called to PWS Welding on East Liverpool Road, Lisbon, at 10:35 a.m. Monday for a burglary that occurred during the night. An East Liverpool Police Officer told the deputy when he arrived at the business before 8 a.m. he noticed the front door leading into the small area of the office was standing open and the trailer door going into the office area was shut but unlocked. The officer also said a window was broken in the office where the door was open and a television was missing from the wall.

Angela Bates, West Pershing Street, Salem, reported at 1:05 p.m. Thursday she noticed the back of her Acadia vehicle damaged on Wednesday. She believed it was either damaged while she was staying at the KOA on Winona Road or parked at the the Winona Frozen Foods.

Bonnie Shaffer, state Route 7, Rogers, reported at 9:55 a.m. Saturday when she returned home at about 10:45 p.m. Friday she found someone had broken into her home. A TV, a .22-caliber rifle and a Thomas Kincade picture were missing. Her daughter had been there earlier, between 4 and 4:30 p.m. and nothing was amiss then. She did capture fuzzy pictures with a deer camera of a man leaving the house carrying items.

Matthew Smith, South Lincoln Avenue, Salineville, reported at 10:15 a.m. Saturday he pulled his 2000 Oldsmobile Alero into the Dollar General parking lot in Salineville to drop his girlfriend off, and the driver of a 2001 Dodge Durango, Angel Rannick, put her vehicle into reverse and backed into him. His front fender was damaged, and the seal around the windshield was cracked. Smith said he was taking his girlfriend to the hospital because she has had previous back surgeries and was complaining of shoulder pain.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Greg Ruble, Lower Elkton Road, Lisbon, reported at 11:57 a.m. Thursday someone attempted to access his online banking account and believed it may have been his ex-girlfriend. A deputy spoke with the woman who said it was not her but both of their accounts had been hacked in the past.

Deputies were called to 7662 Chestnut St. at 10 p.m. Sept. 25 for an unknown medical call. A man told deputies he was walking near the road when he stumbled and hit his head on a telephone pole. He was taken by EMS to the SRMC.

A deputy was called to Hope Christian Fellowship on state Route 39 at 6:20 p.m. Thursday for a trespassing report. The deputy spoke with the church pastor who stated the previous owners allowed people to cut wood there but people were no longer allowed to be there. The issue was resolved.

Mike Clark, Lodge Road, Leetonia, reported at 7:49 p.m. Thursday someone may have tried to break into his home as he found a brick on his back porch when he returned home.

Toni Toth, Ohio Avenue, Salem, reported at 5:56 p.m. Thursday someone went through her vehicle while it was parked on Slater Road, although nothing was missing.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Patricia Laney, Foundry Hill Road, Hanoverton, reported at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday there was a possible burglary in progress. Deputies searched a vacant home across the street, where she believed someone may have been inside. It appeared someone may have recently been staying there, but no one was there at this time. Patricia and Aaron Laney reported a 12-gauge shotgun was stolen from their home. The matter is under investigation.

Marty Kerr, an employee at Envelope One, reported at 3:02 a.m. Tuesday a woman who used to work there was parked in the parking lot awaiting another employee. Kerr told deputies he told her to leave and she refused so he called deputies. She was not there when deputies checked the parking lot at that time or when deputies returned to check a few hours later.

Teresa Chapman, Steubenville Pike, Hammondsville, reported at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday her daughter, Victoria Poynter, was assaulted by Clifford Poynter. Victoria told deputies her husband did hit her in the mouth and face, but she did not want to pursue charges. Likewise, Clifford said his wife hit him but he also refused to pursue charges.

Columbiana County Sheriff

Tawnie Parker, state Route 14, East Palestine, reported at 11:44 a.m. Friday her daughter and son-in-law, Lacy and Thomas Clunen, were staying at a home on the property she owns. However, the couple are in the process of getting a dissolution and he has not been staying there since Aug. 26. Parker was concerned about the son-in-law returning there and threats he reportedly made to have her daughter killed.

Keith Sanor, Kettering Road, East Rochester, reported at 6:05 p.m. Friday he found four marijuana plants in a field with chicken wire around them while he was cutting his corn. Sanor further reported he saw a white pickup stop at the end of the road near the field and watch for a long time while he was starting to cut his corn.

John R. Bosley, 31, East Palestine, was charged with left of center and OVI after a deputy saw a red van drive completely out of its own lane on state Route 165 near Heck Road at 8:19 p.m. Friday.

A woman reported multiple garbage along Georgetown-Damascus Road, Salem, at 4:38 p.m. Sunday. After looking in the bags, deputies spoke with Matt Courtney, who said he did not know how it got there, but he would clean it up.

Officials at the federal prison in Elkton reported an intoxicated woman at 6:33 p.m. Friday. Jennifer Payne, 39, of Philippi, W.Va., said she was there to visit her boyfriend. She was taken to the highway patrol for a breath test and cited with OVI and driving under suspension.

Carl Weaver, state Route 7, Columbiana, reported at 10:09 p.m. Monday he was out of town and no one should be at his home, but he believed someone was there. Deputies and Columbiana police found eight people inside the cabin behind Weaver’s home. They were his estranged wife, Ruth Weaver, and their seven children. She showed deputies text message between her and her estranged husband and it appeared he knew she was staying at the cabin. She agreed to leave by 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Hillary Wooley, Farr Street, Rogers, reported at 5:35 p.m. Monday there were suspicious men walking around carrying duffel bags. Deputies checked the area, but found no one matching the description.

Samantha Wright, Washington Street, Salem, reported at 4:14 p.m. Monday there was an accident in the parking lot at Sparkle in Lisbon. Kerry Wells, no address listed, was reportedly driving his Ford Expedition through the lot, when Wright backed her Chevy Cruz from a parking space right in front of him and the cars collided. Both exchanged insurance information.

Lucian Clewell, Clewell Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:30 p.m. Monday he posted an eviction notice on his tenants’ home and on Saturday one of the tenants, George Taylor, confronted him about it. Clewell said Taylor said he wanted to beat him. Then on Monday, Taylor reportedly beat his chest in the direction of Clewell’s father and made a comment about it.

Jose Ramos, Columbia Street, Leetonia, reported at 8:11 p.m. Monday he had parked his 2002 Chevy Silverado and went inside to work at PhD Manufacturing, Columbiana Waterford Road, Columbiana. While he was there, a co-worker alerted him someone struck his vehicle and the co-worker’s wife saw the crash. Someone known only as Robert, driving a GMC Envoy, was reportedly responsible. After the crash he got out of his vehicle, picked up his bumper and drove away.

Kathy Summers, Henry Avenue, Wellsville, reported at 4:30 p.m. Monday while her son was playing football Friday someone took his Kyrie Irving silver and gray basketball shoes from the football locker room at Beaver Local High School.

Devin Decker, Darner Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:21 p.m. Monday his girlfriend was very upset and he decided to go stay at a relative’s home for a while.

David Waseman, U.S. Route 30, Minerva, reported Monday that on Sunday evening his neighbor, Travis Hackney, was backing a pickup along the side of Waseman’s trailer, when a tree branch in the back struck the trailer, piercing the siding and interior paneling in Waseman’s home. He believed it accidental and wanted a report for his insurance company.

Larry McElhaney, Ottawa Trail, Negley, reported suspicious activity at an address on Carmel Achor Road, at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies checked the home, but did not find anything unusual.
