Local agencies receive housing grants

Three Northeastern Ohio nonprofit agencies serving Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties will receive $420,755 to assist residents with housing needs, the Ohio Department of Development announced Thursday. East Palestine woman charged with animal cruelty

LISBON — Four counts of prohibitions concerning companion animals were filed Wednesday in Columbiana County Municipal Court against an East Palestine resident who had 21 animals seized from her home due to alleged unsanitary conditions. Jennifer Albert, 38, West Main Street, is scheduled to face arraignment on the misdemeanor charges at 8:30 a.m. May 18. An affidavit said animals were found at her address on April 3 “in conditions of extreme filth, causing suffering, lack of grooming and ear mites. Arraignment rescheduled for driver in West Township fatal

LISBON — Arraignment is now rescheduled for 10:40 a.m. May 11 for Michael James Scheuring for a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide for a two-vehicle crash which cost a Tennessee woman her life last fall. Scheuring, 39, Niles, was originally supposed to face arraignment Thursday, but Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton granted a defense motion to continue the arraignment and pick a new date.
