Lt. Randy Schneider and firefighter Alex Fantone of the Calcutta Fire Swift Water Rescue team responded at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Crooksville Fire Department in Perry County east of Columbus with a swift water boat night operation and search and rescue. The team stayed for night shift and day shift Wednesday at the request of the Crooksville chief to assist in search and recovery operations locating citizens in affected areas. Calcutta and Crooksville along with Perry County sheriff's deputies went door to door checking on citizens locations and clearing flooded homes with help with traffic control from the Ohio National Guard. Ohio Emergency Management Executive Director Sima Merick thanked the Calcutta crew and Fire Chief Dave McCoy for sending the team along with Gov. Mike DeWine saying this is the benefit of having trained personnel in different nearby counties that can assist in times of disasters. (Submitted photos)
