Voters to decide on two wards for Chester council

NEW CUMBERLAND — Only two wards are undetermined for Chester City Council when voters head to the polls Tuesday. Voters in Ward 1 will be choosing between Leon Huff, Bill Kell and Seth Roderick Patton; while those in Ward 5 will be deciding between Steve Shuman, Donald Tharp and Jason Thorn. Closure extended for Saltwell Road intersection in Lisbon

LISBON — The closure of Saltwell Road from state Route 45 to Dickey Drive has been extended nearly a week, with the road expected to reopen May 14. Lisbon Water Department Senior Plant Operator Chris Peterson announced the extended closure, saying the project to replace a collapsed sewer line is taking a little longer than expected. Columbiana County voter turnout as expected: 20%

LISBON — Columbiana County Board of Elections Director Kim Fusco was spot on with her prediction for voter turnout — she said 20% — the total Tuesday night was 20.47%, with 13,029 total ballots cast. Voters said yes to all local liquor options, no to additional tax levies in St. Clair and Wayne townships and no to a .5% income tax increase in Leetonia. “Everything went pretty smooth,” Fusco said.
