Youngstown State expands into Steubenville as calls to consolidate Ohio’s universities ramp up

Youngstown State University is opening a new campus this fall – just as the conversation about shrinking Ohio’s public universities grows louder. The university’s first regional campus is on the former site of Eastern Gateway Community College in Steubenville. University President Bill Johnson said the new outpost will be a lean operation. There will be no campus dean or a “bunch of overhead people,” he said. Technology help, financial aid and other services will run out of the Youngstown campus. Wellsville council adjusts request for BWD road repair ordinance

WELLSVILLE – Village council is continuing to work with the Buckeye Water District to repair roadways damaged during projects. At its previous meeting in April, council requested village solicitor Chris Weeda to draft an ordinance requiring the Buckeye Water District (BWD) to repair any roads damaged during work within 14 days of completion. If the road is not repaired within the 14 days, the district would be fined $500 a day for up to 14 days. New status hearing scheduled for nonprofit founder accused of theft of funds

LISBON — A new status hearing was scheduled for 11 a.m. June 26 in the criminal case against Amanda M. Kiger and the nonprofit she founded, River Valley Organizing, for the alleged theft of charitable donations for personal use. The new date was set during a status hearing Friday.
