County engineer’s office still look for salt solution for the winter

LISBON — Columbiana County Engineer Bert Dawson said his department is still working on a salt issue after receiving no bids for sodium chloride rock salt for the upcoming winter. The bid opening was set for Aug. 5, but instead of bids, the department received three letters from companies who had been invited to bid, all saying they were unable to submit bids, including Morton Salt, Cargill and Compass Minerals. LISBON — Former Liverpool Township police chief Jayson Jackson waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday, with his case for fourth-degree felony domestic violence bound over for consideration by the Columbiana County Grand Jury.
