Wellsville school audit certified

WELLSVILLE — The school district’s audit for last year has been certified.

During the finance portion of the Wellsville school board meeting Monday, Treasurer Maia Amato said the district’s Fiscal Year 2025 audit was recently certified by the Auditor of State. Wellsville did not receive a management letter stating any issues found by the auditors.

She said the district also received a StaRS Certificate, awarding the district for outstanding achievement in open and transparent government.

In other business, the board approved the financial report as presented, Then and Now Certificates, an application to ODEW requesting the use of an average unrestricted indirect cost rate, an agreement with LearnWell for the 2025-2026 school year, a motion to retract the approval to sell the Kimball Baby Grand Piano and Organ which was approved during the Nov. 17 board meeting, and approved the disposal of the instruments.

The board also approved under finance, the agreement with Youngstown State University to comply with the new Ohio requirements for field and clinical experiences, the 2025-2026 service agreement with Safehouse Preparatory and the service contract with Sedgwick for the 2025-2026 school year and group rating enrollment for policy year 2027.

For personnel, board members approved four coaches, a certified substitute, an intervention specialist, and a one-year contract for Joshua DePasquale as science teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

They also accepted the resignation of Chris Shaffer, custodian, effective March 9.

The Wellsville Board of Education meets the third Monday of each month at 5 p.m. in the media center at Wellsville Jr. Sr. High School, 1 Bengal Blvd. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 20.
