WELLSVILLE — Over 70 grams of suspected cocaine were seized during a warrant execution by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force (DTF) on Feb. 13.
The DTF, assisted by Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Wellsville Police Department (WPD), East Liverpool Police Department (ELPD) and K-9s Diva of the CCSO and Mac of the WPD, executed the warrant and conducted a search of the property at 2023 Danbury Ave., in Wellsville.
DTF Director Jesse Smith noted the tenant, Patricia Myers, who rents the property, was not home when the agents hit the door.
During the search, DTF agents found more than 70 grams of suspected cocaine with a street value of approximately $50 to $100 a gram, prescription pills, a few grams of methamphetamine, a loaded 9mm handgun, packing material consistent with drug trafficking and a large amount of cutting substance which Smith noted to be commonly used by drug dealers to mix into the drugs to increase the volume for resale.
Smith said it’s a little unusual for agents to find cocaine during a warrant, especially in that amount, that it’s more common to find methamphetamine.
Charges against Myers are pending lab results from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), which, according to Smith, could take a couple of months.
Smith said the DTF would like to thank the following for assistance in the investigation: CCSO, Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office, Adult Parole and the Salem, East Liverpool, Lisbon, Columbiana, Liverpool Township and Wellsville police departments.
