GLENMOOR — Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department (GVFD) has seen a slight increase in the number of calls received in 2025 compared to those in 2024.

The department received 210 as of Dec. 10, 2025, compared to 191 in 2024.

This year the crew responded to 121 calls for fires and accidents, made four EMS calls, and responded to 80 calls for a variety of reasons.

The department, which is 100% volunteer, meaning none of their members receive payment for any call outs, has a crew of 23 members, three of whom are junior firefighters.

Accomplishments achieved by the department in 2025 include taking possession of their new engine, Engine 33; and obtaining new fire hoses and hand tools.

For 2026, the department is looking to strengthen recruitment efforts and increase members by 20%, and strengthen mutual relationships.

They also look to have a stronger public presence by increasing their public engagement with more outreach and events and educational services, according to Capt. Derrick Smith.

Starting at $2.99/week.
