Children’s Block Party to be held downtown
The Museum of Ceramics, the Upper Ohio Valley Museum, and the Carnegie Public Library have collaborated to host the annual free children’s block party on Aug. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is intended to be a day of family fund with activities for all ages and bring bring the community together while learning a little about the local history.
Activities include a variety of crafts and games, prize bags, snacks, face painting and more.

At the Upper Ohio Valley Museum Kids can experience the model train exhibits and whirly gigs or play the Graces game.
The library will have hopscotch and other games.
“We are trying to focus on old fashion games,” Megan Coil, director, Museum of Ceramics said.
Fiesta Tableware Co. has provided local pottery for the popular penny toss game.
Children will have a sheet of paper to get a check for the activities they complete at the different locations which they can hand in for a goodie bag after they have made their way through the activities at the party.
“It’s a day to get creative at craft table and enjoy some outdoor fun right in the heart of the community,” Coil, said. “Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly outing or just want to soak up some summer fun, the Block Party offers something for everyone. Bring your little ones, bring your neighbors, everyone’s welcome.”
