East Liverpool city council calls committee meeting to discuss charter government

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool City Council’s Planning and Expansion Committee will meet next week to discuss a charter government.

Councilman Tom Beagle, chairperson for the Planning and Expansion Committee, has called the meeting for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 to begin discussions on a charter form of government.

Columbiana Mayor Rick Noel will be present at the meeting to discuss his experience with that form of government and answer questions.

Councilman John Mercer, chairperson of the Licensing and Economic Development Committee, has also called a meeting for his committee at 6 p.m. Nov. 15.

Council President John Torma has called a special meeting of the city council at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 for a second reading and possible passage off the four proposed pieces of legislation introduced during the Nov. 6 council meeting.

The proposed legislations include amending the budget ordinance, the creation of a new fund line items and to make appropriations for a Homeland Security Grant, making Farmers Bank the city’s depository and to pay vendors.

All meetings are open to the public and will be held in council chambers on the third floor of East Liverpool City Hall.
