St. Clair trustees approve agreement with EL for outbuilding access

ST. CLAIR TWP.– During its Monday meeting, St. Clair Township Trustees approved a motion to accept an agreement between the St. Clair Township Police Department and the City of East Liverpool regarding an outbuilding access.

It was executed by East Liverpool Safety/Service Director David Dawson and Police Chief Brian McKenzie.

The agreement permits St. Clair police to have access to an outbuilding on property located on Henry Avenue that contains radio equipment for the East Liverpool Police Dept. which shares radio communications and dispatch for the St. Clair Township Police Department.

Access for the outbuilding will permit township police to install a Comcast router system in conjunction with a repeater unit at the Beaver Local School Complex to allow for more secure and functional radio system within the school district.

Associated costs and fees will be paid by the St. Clair Police Dept. with the total cost of service provided by Comcast at $134.89 per month for a period of 24 month. The agreement shall be in effect for no less than 10 years unless mutually agreed upon by both parties.

Trustees also accepted the resignation of Officer James Briggs from his long-time postion with the St. Clair Police Dept. Briggs will be taking a position with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.

Road supervisor Scott Barrett said the chip and seal program was coming along. They finished the last road Monday for prep and did a follow-up on all the potholes.

He also informed that the street department will have truck at Touch-A-Truck for Autism Awareness scheduled from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday April 30 at the Beaver Local track. There will be an autism awareness walk and games for children.

Fire chief Dave McCoy noted that the department has a lot of training scheduled for this year. The department has four EMTs currently on staff and five in school. If all five were to pass that would put the Calcutta Fire Department at nine EMTs. McCoy noted that all of them have other jobs and that is the boat everyone is in with volunteer fire departments

The department has had several structure fires but were fortunate in having quick responses to them.

The trustees approve a motion granting permission for the relocation of a 48-inch reinforced concrete pipe on the Columbia Drive Part B project.
