EAST LIVERPOOL — Heritage Thermal Services is pleased to announce that its collection of household hazardous wastes for East Liverpool-area households takes place this year for the 25th time. Final preparations are underway to hold the free event that the facility started in 1997 to commemorate Earth Day.
The collection of household hazardous wastes, old consumer electronics, light bulbs and batteries will take place at the East End facility on Earth Day, April 22, from 8 a.m. – noon. Residents needing to dispose of expired or surplus pharmaceuticals can drop them off that day at East Liverpool City Hospital from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The hospital is among the citySweep sponsors for this year.
For safety reasons, residents are reminded to pack their materials securely. Smoking, hitch trailers and propane tanks are not permitted onsite. Persons delivering their materials must remain in their vehicles while onsite. The collection is for household waste only. Waste from businesses is not eligible.
Residents are invited to download the profile form they will need to drop off material and the event flyer from the company’s Facebook page. They can also call 330.386.2194 if they have any questions.
The City of East Liverpool and the Southern Columbiana County Regional Chamber of Commerce are promoting cleanups throughout the city. Tim Hortons and WTOV-TV9 are also sponsors of the Earth Day activities.
Since the first citySweep collection in 1997, East Liverpool-area residents have recycled or disposed of more than 303 tons of household chemical wastes and old electronics that otherwise would have been poured down the drain or tossed in the trash.
