Informational meeting planned regarding power plant/data center in Yellow Creek Township

A public meeting to share information regarding the new power plant/data center located in Yellow Creek Township has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Highlandtown Volunteer Fire Department. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. All questions will be answered by company officials.

Hancock County Health Department offering first aid classes

The Hancock County Health Department is offering a BLS (CPR/AED) class from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 3, at the health department. This class is geared for healthcare workers. This class is $25. A Heartsaver (First Aid, CPR & AED) class is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 at the health department. This class is for non-medical persons. This class is $50, or $55 with a handbook. Space is limited for the classes. For information call the health department at 304-564-3343.

HCDEC will meet to fill vacant seats

The HCDEC will meet at 5:30 p.m. June 16 at the Brooke/Hancock Family Resource Network, 1300 Potomac St., Weirton. The purpose of the meeting is to fill vacant seats for positions that currently do not have elected members. All eligible members are encouraged to attend and participate in the process. Choose to Lose Group meets

Choose To Lose Group met at Boyce Church on May 19 with leader Penny Perorazio presiding. The meeting opened up with the pledge of allegiance followed by CTLG roll call.

Pam Fouse gave the secretary report and Cassie Stephens gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read.

Dottie Seevers was the CTLG biggest loser.

Fouse was the runner up.

Jackie Wilson had three weeks weight loss. Fouse has 10 pounds off.

The no no’s are pizza and ice-cream.

Pat Heacock won the food journal, Seevers won the dimes, and Jackie Wilson won the Share The Blessing.

Winners of the No Fibbing Contest are weight recorder, Wanda Price, Pat Heacock, Stephens, Perorazio and Fouse. New numbers were drawn for the following week # 6.

Wilson, Wanda Price, Perorazio, Stephens, Seevers, Jean Ferrebee and Fouse got to Put A Pig In The Pen.

Stephens read an article on Easing Leg Cramps.

Perorazio closed the meeting with prayer requests followed by the Lord’s Prayer. New and former members are always welcome. For information call 330 383 8217.

Tops 1341 holds meeting

Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 18, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Marlene Reynolds was the best loser and Pat Allison was the runner up. They chose cookies and fried foods as the junk foods for the next two weeks. There was no meeting on May 25, due to it being Memorial Day.

The drawing winners were: 50/50 and weight loss, Judy McComas; food chart and junk food, Darlene Naukem. Naukem also lost weight three weeks in a row. Reynolds was three times in the best losers book. Lydia Kraft won the check contest. Cindy Hays came back from vacation without a gain. Hays also holds the travel box now.

The rules for Tops 1341 were reviewed. The address list and member contact information was updated. The first reading of the Bylaws for Tops 1341 was accomplished by Gailey.

The meeting opened with pledges and closed with prayer concerns and the Lord’s Prayer.

Columbiana Arts Theater to host Karaoke Night for all ages

COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Arts Theater (The CAT) invites the community to take center stage for an evening of music, laughter and unforgettable performances during its upcoming Karaoke Night event Saturday, May 30. Kids karaoke will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and adult karaoke from 7 to 10 p.m.

CWC to host candle maker at Lunch & Learn session

The Columbiana Women’s Club will host a Lunch & Learn with Melissa Smith of the 1820 Candle Company, an East Palestine-based business featuring natural plant wax candle collections born out of a love for music, design and agriculture, at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 13.
