SALINEVILLE — Southern Local Jr. High School senior Gianna “Gigi” Rodgers has been recognized as the Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month for February.

Rodgers, the daughter of Julie Rodgers of Wellsville, has excelled both academically and athletically during her time at Southern Local. She earned a 4.41 GPA and is ranked third in her class, plus she has received all As or A/B Honor Rolls throughout her high school career. She is a member of the Blue Crew and Spanish Club and has served as yearbook editor, treasurer of the National Honor Society, student council president, Varsity Club president, captain of the volleyball and track teams and as an athletic student aide for school Athletic Director Bob Shansky.

Additionally, she has earned Track All-Area Honorable Mention, Basketball Second Team All-County 2023, Volleyball First Team All-EOAC and Volleyball All-County Honorable Mention and is a four-year letter winner in track and volleyball, a two-year letter winner in basketball and a one-year letter winner in bowling.

Rodgers also volunteers at Christian Assembly Church as a greeter, a welcome committee member, children’s nursery helper, church photographer and Bridges Ministry newsletter helper, plus she works full-time at “Some Place Else” in Wellsville.

After high school, Rodgers plans to attend Kent State University to major in nursing and will also receive her Associate of Science degree in May.
