Clippers get into the swing of things at sectional
SALEM — Columbiana’s boys golf team fired a 327 as a team to take third on Thursday at the Div. III sectional tournament at Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.
The Clippers were one of three teams to advance to the district tournament set for Oct. 6 at Tannenhauf Golf Club. Also advancing were Mooney (295) and Mogadore (324). The three individuals not on a qualifying team that moved on were Springfield’s Jackson Ensley (73), Lake Center Christian’s Jacob Rainieri (76) and Springfield’s Cooper Ensley (78).
The top three district team finishers and top three individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the state tournament set for Oct. 13-14 at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury.

HUBBARD –Columbiana’s girls golf team won the Div. II sectional championship with a 349 on Thursday at Pine Lakes.
United was also one of four district team qualifiers as the Eagles took fourth with a 391. The other district qualifiers were Lakeview (370) and Champion (381). Individual qualifiers not on a qualifying team included Mooney’s Katie Pregibon (80), West Branch’s Isabella Linger (85), Girard’s Ally Gassman (86) and Maplewood’s Claire Urchek (86).
The district tournament is set for Oct. 1 at Good Park Golf Course in Akron.
The top two district teams and two individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the state tournament set for Oct. 6-7 at Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro which is just south of Dayton.
