EAST LIVERPOOL – East Liverpool Fire Department along NorthStar Critical Care, Lifeteam and Columbia Gas responded to a gas leak at 1880 Anderson Boulevard which sent six people from multiple apartments to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning Monday morning. A child was among the six transported.
Assistant Fire Chief Lance Smith said they got the call at approximately 6:30 a.m., that people were not feeling well possibly due to carbon monoxide. When the fire department arrived, they took in four gas meters which detected very high readings of carbon monoxide.
The leak’s cause is unknown and is under investigation. Columbia Gas has shut off the gas to the apartment.
Smith said as of Monday afternoon he had not received any updates on the patients, but noted there were no fatalities at the time they were transported.
