EAST LIVERPOOL -- East Liverpool City Schools will have updated security measures in place for Friday’s football playoff game against Columbus Marion-Franklin at Patterson Field.

This move comes after a 16-year-old was stabbed in the restroom in an alleged assault during last Friday’s overtime game with Brooke at Patterson Field.

The new guidelines include:

• Guests will have to have a pink parking pass or a handicap placard to park in the grass lot near the visitors’ bleachers.

• Temporary fencing will be placed behind the visitors’ bleachers. No one will be allowed to re-enter once they leave.

• Students in grades 7-12 must sit in the stands or in the student section.

• Students in grades Pre-K through sixth grade must sit in the stands with an adult.

• Students may not walk the track during the game, congregate in the restrooms or concession stands or go on the hillside behind the concession stand.

• Outside sporting equipment (footballs, basketballs) is not permitted. Bikes, skateboards and scooters are also not permitted. Students may not bring backpacks into the stadium

The new guidelines follow closely with other school districts have done over the past few seasons.

Additional law enforcement will be present on Friday. Announcements regarding the new safety guidelines will be heard over the public address system before kick-off.

The school district is also encouraging anyone who sees something of concern to call the police at (330) 385-1234 or if an emergency call 911.

Tickets for Friday’s game are $12 for adults and $5 for students.
