Wellsville outlasts Lisbon

WELLSVILLE -- Wellsville and Lisbon played into Thursday night.

Wellsville prevailed with a 16-25, 25-16, 26-28, 25-21, 15-13 win in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play. It was close throughout with the Tigers totaling 107 points and the Blue Devils 103.

Wellsville improves to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the EOAC, while Lisbon drops to 3-7 and 1-4 in league play.

Leaders for Lisbon were Brigett Newbold with six points, 11 assists and five digs; Ella Cochran eight points, two aces, 24 assists and five digs; Addy Anderson nine kills, seven points, three aces and five digs; Alayna Householder six kills and five points; Gionna Lenigar 11 kills, five points, two aces and three blocks; Lilly Lipply 10 kills, six points, three aces and two blocks; and Hannah Davis 11 digs.

Wellsville hosts Bridgeport on Monday and Lisbon travels too United on Tuesday.

SOUTHERN 3, VALLEY 0

YOUNGSTOWN -- Kalayah Crute collected 18 points with five aces and seven kills in leading Southern past Valley Christian, 25-12, 25-16, 25-12, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Thursday.

The Indians improve to 3-5, while the Eagles drop to 0-8.

Delaney Beadnell contributed 11 points and 10 assists, Natalia Lopez eight points and six kills, Katie Kellogg six points and seven kills, Kiah Sloan six kills, Addy Martin six points and three digs and Eliana Forbes eight assists and three digs.

Southern also won the junior varsity match, 25-6, 25-5, with Eliana Forbes serving 12 points and Gemma Jackson 10 points.

Southern will play at Edison at 11 a.m. Saturday.
