Bears smash Linsly

WHEELING, W.Va. -- Oak Glen defeated Linsly 25-27, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 on Tuesday.

Mikalyn Balch led Oak Glen with 12 kills, 12 assists, 13 digs and six aces. Mattie Carney and Caetlyn Six added seven kills apiece, while Audrina May had six kills and Naomi Ayers had five. Bryson Adams finished with 20 assists and 13 digs. Keira Vick had 24 digs and four aces, Kendall Six added nine digs and three aces, and Katie Kliner had nine digs and two aces.

Oak Glen also won the junior varsity match in two sets.

Elynn Rogers had six kills and 11 assists for the Golden Bears. Kaia Parish had five kills, Kennedy Staley had four and Karter Turley added three kills and two aces.

Therese Robinson had nine assists and seven aces, while Bristol Eckleberry had three aces and three digs.

Oak Glen (10-2) will be at Bridgeport on Saturday.

BEAVER 3, BROOKE 1

WELLSBURG, W.Va. -- Beaver Local’s volleyball team spiked Brooke 24-26, 25-12, 25-16, 25-17 on Tuesday.

Addie Thurik led the Beavers (5-2) with 16 kills, eight aces, 16 digs and 18 assists. Lily Schrieber had 13 kills, four aces, 22 assists and 18 digs. Leah Schrieber added nine kills, one ace and 11 digs, while Olivia Opalenik had six kills. Taylor Pease recorded four aces and 31 digs. McKinnley Ferry had 12 digs, Madison Poppelriter had five kills, Gianna Congrove had seven digs and Katie Miller added two kills.

The Beaver JV won 24-26, 25-10, 25-17. Daisy McKnight led Beaver Local with 10 kills, seven aces, two digs and two blocks. Macie Bourne had eight kills, three aces, three assists and nine digs. Makayla Jungfleisch added five kills, four aces and 11 digs, while Jess Layman had five kills and Madi Gaydos finished with 11 digs.

Beaver Local returns to action Thursday at East Liverpool for the Volley for the Cure match.

EAST PALESTINE 3, WELLSVILLE 1

EAST PALESTINE -- East Palestine defeated Wellsville 25-22, 17-25, 25-16, 25-18 on Tuesday.

The 7-2 Bulldogs remain tied for first in the EOAC with a 3-0 league mark. Destiney Burtyk had 15 kills and 20 digs for the Bulldogs. Kennedy Andre added 27 assists, five kills and 10 digs. Violet Glavan had six kills, four blocks, five digs and 13 points. Marley Blythe added five kills, 12 digs and 11 points. Jacklyn Ogle had 14 digs. East Palestine will finish its suspended match at Southern today.

Madie Drysdale led Wellsville (1-6, 0-4) with 10 kills, nine digs, four aces and eight blocks. Aleena Owens added eight kills, seven digs, four assists, three aces and three blocks.

Kenzie Bosco had four kills and 10 digs, while Jonnah Sears finished with 13 assists, 11 digs, four aces and one kill. Ella Betz recorded 24 digs and three aces. Gabby Carr had four digs, two aces and two blocks, while Irelyn Roberts added two blocks.

EAST LIVERPOOL 3, INDIAN CREEK 0

EAST LIVERPOOL -- East Liverpool’s volleyball team kept its perfect record intact with a 25-10, 15-15, 25-18 victory over Indian Creek on Tuesday.

For the Potters (6-0), Cameron Conley had 13 assists and two aces. Addie Jones had seven kills. Hailey Board had seven kills and five blocks. Kendall Martin had seven kills and five blocks. Kendall Martin had 13 kills. Addi Smith and Addisyn Boyle had two kills each. Taylor Loedding had three aces and three assists. Lillie White had four aces and eight digs. Peyton Tanner had three aces and 13 assists.

In the jayvee match, Ella Gunning had six aces and 13 assists in the Potters’ 25-22, 25-9 win. Katelyn Reeder had six kills. Maddie Campbell and Kennedy Talbott had three kills each.

East Liverpool welcomes Beaver Local on Thursday for a Volley for the Cure match.

SOUTHERN 3, LISBON 0

LISBON -- Southern defeated Lisbon, 25-18, 26-24, 25-16, Tuesday in volleyball action.

The Indians improve to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Katie Kellogg had eight points and 10 kills and Kalayah Crute seven points, 10 kills and three blocks to lead the Indians. Kiah Sloan had eight kills and three blocks, Addy Martin 14 digs, Maddy Tsesmilles seven digs, Eliana Forbes 16 assists and Delaney Beadnell 15 assists.

For Lisbon, Alayna Householder and Addison Anderson had seven kills each. Gionna Lenigar had four kills and two blocks with six points. Lilly Lipply added five kills and a block. Aria Reckner and Hannah Davis had six digs each. Ariel Smith had seven digs and six points. Bridget Newbold had 18 assists.

For Lisbon’s jayvees, Gracyn Owens had seven kills, 10 aces and eight assists. Ella Cochran had five kills and six assists. Carrie Hager and Emmy Haynes had three kills each. Johanna Ford had 13 digs.

Both teams play tonight. Southern hosts East Palestine at 5:30 p.m. in the resumption of a match suspended due to a power outage after East Palestine won the first game. Lisbon hosts Lowellville.
