Golden Bears mourn one of their own

Oak Glen junior football player Carter Pesacreta, 16, died on Friday in an off-road vehicle accident. Hancock County Schools sent out a message on Facebook on Sunday saying that school counselors and social workers will be on hand Monday at Oak Glen High School and the career center. Hancock County Schools also said to watch social media for school coordinated activities pertaining to the tragedy.

Oak Glen High School posted on Sunday that Pesacreta’s viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Nixon Funeral Home. The funeral is set for 11 a.m. on Thursday.

A benefit spaghetti diner in memory of Pesacreta will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 3 at the Chester American Legion. Cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children under 12. Proceeds will go toward helping the family with expenses.
