Columbiana girls Senior League team falls in regional

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. -- Columbiana Softball Association’s Senior League team got off to a good start on Tuesday as the Ohio representatives in the 15U Little League Central Regional.

It just didn’t end that way.

Columbiana scored four runs in the first but couldn’t hold off a consistent offensive attack from Kentucky’s Adair County in the 12-5 loss in the first game of the double-elimination tournament.

Columbiana will return at 10 a.m. today to meet Illinois representative Evergreen Park in an elimination game. Michigan representative Grand Blanc defeated Missouri’s Webb City 16-0 then beat Evergreen Park 7-1 to advance in the winner’s bracket. Kentucky’s team won its second game 21-0 over Indiana’s Artesian later on Tuesday at also advance in the winner’s bracket.

Columbiana’s team consists of Lyla Jones, Reagan Kevern, Brooklyn Reidy, Grace Gala, Addison Pallard, Keegan Reynolds, Marlie Pedicini, Jaydyn Dickey, Shaelynn Gregory, Emma Gala, Alaina Bailey and Adelaide Garrett. The team is coached by Steve Pallard, Jordan Reynolds and Chris Reidy.

Before the tournament the team received online good luck wishes from Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and former Ohio State softball star Kami Kortokrax.
