Potters earn third win of season
EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s baseball team scored nine runs in the first inning to cruise to a 12-2 win over Wellsville in five innings on Friday.
Aiden Durst and Braden Duke had doubles for the Potters with Durst adding three RBIs.
Donovan Shallcross had 10 strikeouts and a walk in five innings for the Potters.
For Wellsville (0-15), Eric Dowling took the loss with three walks and six earned runs in a third of an inning.
East Liverpool (3-19) hosts Lisbon on Tuesday.
Wellsville is scheduled to play two at Liberty on Saturday.

Bears earn No. 2 seed
NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s softball team received the second seed in the West Virginia Class AA, Region 1 tournament.
The Golden Bears (15-10) will host the winner of No. 3 Doddridge County and No. 6 Tyler Consolidated at a date to be determined in the double elimination tournament. Oak Glen, the defending Class AA state champion, outscored those opponents 45-1 in three games. The winner of the three team tournament will advance to the state tournament.
Top seed Weir will face the winner of No. 4 Ravenswood and No. 5 Williamstown in the other bracket. The winner of that three-team tournament will also advance to state.
