Oak Glen loses battle to extend season

WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. — Sixth seeded Oak Glen set the stage for another upset of No. 3 seed Williamstown on Thursday in a Class AA, Region 1 elimination game.

Unfortunately for the Bears a four-run lead didn’t hold up in a 5-4 loss.

The Bears led 4-0 in the second inning and were paced offensively by James Rohbeck’s two hits. Cam Carter, Josh Maher and Christian Chappell each had a hit and RBI.

Williamstown scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.

Chappell took the loss in relief with two unearned runs over four batters.

Williamstown will travel to No. 2 seed Doddridge County in the coming days to determine who will qualify for the state tournament. Williamstown would have to win twice to get a state berth.
