Eagles, Clippers reign at EOAC meet
EAST PALESTINE — United’s boys track team broke up Columbiana’s two-year Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference championship streak by taking the league meet on Saturday at East Palestine’s Reid Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles grabbed eight event wins on the way to the team title.
United’s Josh Hawkins took home MVP honors with wins in the 800 and 1600 as well as being a part of the 3200 relay winning team.
Columbiana’s girls team won its third straight title by taking five events.
Columbiana’s Camille Jeffries won MVP honors by taking first in the 200 and 300 hurdles, while taking third in the 100 and second in the 1600 relay.
The Eagles won five events with Taylor Simmons winning top honors in the high jump and the 400-meter dash.
Southern Local’s Maddy Jones showed her strength by winning both throwing events.
