Holden lifts Bears to split

Oak Glen at John Marshall

GLEN DALE, W.Va. — Danica Holden went the distance and drove in three runs to give Oak Glen a 6-4 win over John Marshall and a split in Thursday’s doubleheader.

John Marshall won the opener, 8-3.

In the nightcap, Holden struck out eight and walked two. She helped herself by doubling and singled.

Nevaeh Heath went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Brayley Lash, Matti Carney and Brystol Holden each had two hits.

In the opener, K. White had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead John Marshall.

Danica Holden had two hits and two RBIs and Balch two hits and two runs for the Golden Bears. Carney and Macy Hartung each had doubles.

Carney took the loss, striking out six and talking three.

Oak Glen is scheduled to host Harrison Central today.

WEIRTON, W.Va. — Eliza Utt struck out 11 and drove in four runs in a 6-0 win over East Liverpool on Thursday.

Weber had two hits and Bella Weber added a double for Weir, which improves to 13-5.

Tatum Fink took the loss, striking out six and walking six.

East Liverpool (7-15) will play at Toronto on Monday.

Beaver 17, Crestview 4

COLUMBIANA — Beaver Local sophomore Brylee Curtis is on a power surge.

Curtis hit two more home runs — giving her seven in the last three days and nine on the season — and drove in five runs as the Beavers beat Crestview, 17-4, in five innings Thursday.

Curtis hit two-run homers in the first and third innings and finished 3-for-3 with four runs scored.

Addie Thurik went 4-for-4 with a triple and a double and scored four runs. Macie Bourne was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Ciara Call tripled, singled and drove in three runs. Carlee Crabtree doubled, singled and scored three runs. Ally Wright added two hits, including a double. Gianna Congrove and Ally Wright each had two hits.

Call was the winning pitcher, striking out 10 and walking one.

Gia Depace topped the Rebels by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Alivia Shetler hit a triple.

Beaver Local (16-3) will play at Bellaire on Saturday.

Crestview (8-6) will host Garfield on Monday.
