CALCUTTA — The Beaver Local Beavers had to stop beating themselves before they could beat Minerva.
Braxton Hickman’s two-run single and Jett Johnson’s RBI single highlighted a four-run fourth inning as the Beavers rallied for a 10-7 win Friday.
Beaver Local has won five in a row to improve to 11-6, while Minerva drops to 7-7.
AJ Bowser went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs for the Beavers. Paxton Grimes had two hits and two runs, Andre Weigand two hits, Martin a triple and two runs and Johnson scored two runs.
Reid Schwerha got the win, pitching three innings in relief. He gave up one unearned run on five hits with two strikeouts. Hickman pitched the first three innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on two hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Martin pitched one hitless inning, giving up one run with two strikeouts and four walks.
Kolton Almasy doubled, singled and drove in two runs for the Beavers. Jason Sivy had two hits and two runs and Lane Tarbet had a double.
Brendan Huth took the loss, allowing nine runs, six earned, on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked five.
After Beaver Local took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, Minerva tied the score with five runs in the third inning.
The first three Lions walked and got their first run on an infield error. They added another run on a wild pitch.
Almasy followed with a two-run double down the first-base line and Brennan Barnes had an RBI single to tie the game at 5-5. A running catch by center fielder Paxton Grimes helped the Beavers get out of the inning.
The Beavers got their first three runners got on in the bottom of the third inning, but a base running mistake led to a Minerva double play that kept the score tied.
Both teams are scheduled to play Saturday with Beaver Local at Martins Ferry and Minerva at Canton South.

EAST PALESTINE — Oak Glen’s Noah Willey limited East Palestine to one hit in a 3-0 Golden Bear win on Friday.
Willey tallied 11 strikeouts and two walks in the complete game effort.
Gannon Cline had two hits and an RBI for the winners. James Rohbeck and Willey had doubles.
Mason Gorby took the loss with a walk and three strikeouts in six innings.
East Palestine (5-7) is at Girard on Tuesday, but is working on scheduling a game on Monday.
Oak Glen (8-12) is at Brooke on Monday.
