FAIRPORT HARBOR — Wellsville’s boys basketball team couldn’t keep up with the zippy Skippers of Fairport Harding on Monday night in a Div. VII district semifinal.

The No. 2 seed Skippers used quick ball rotations and a stellar passing display to down the Tigers 79-48.

Wellsville, the 13th seed, ended its season at 10-14, while the Skippers are 21-2.

The Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference went 2-8 in the tournament.

The Tigers were down 21-11 after the first quarter and 41-24 at the half.

Yomar Castellano led the Skippers with 24 points.

For the Tigers, Darnell Roe had 14 points, three rebounds and three assists. Austin Adkins chipped in with 12 points. Andrew Mackey added seven rebounds.

Wellsville had 21 turnovers on the night.

The Skippers advance to meet No. 6 seed Medina Christian at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the district final at Smithville High School. The winner of that district final would meet the winner of Saturday’s No. 3 Heartland and No. 7 Kidron Central Christian district final in the regional semifinal at 6 p.m. on March 10 at Barberton High School.
