CLAYMONT — Two East Liverpool wrestlers won their weight classes on Saturday at the Div. II sectional at Claymont.

Kyle Ingram (106) and Wyatt McCune (132) both advanced to the Div. II district meet set for Friday and Saturday at Gallia Academy.

Ingram earned his 100th career win at the meet.

Div. II Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE — Beaver Local qualified 12 wrestlers to districts after action on Saturday at the Steubenville Div. II sectional meet.

Beaver Local champions were Jordan Bates (106 pounds), Bobby Buchheit (150) Evan Ours (165) and Robert Marra (215).

Beaver Local sophomore Jake Hughes, ranked second in his weight class at 157 by Dubstat, was upset by third ranked Louden Dixon of West Holmes 4-1 in the 157 final.

John Burkett (113) and Leo Wilkes (132) were also second.

Finishing third was Matthew Tomaino (138). Jeryck Boyd (120), Collin Ring (126), Braedon Landfried (175) and Nick Marra (190) were fourth.

The district meet is set for Friday and Saturday at Gallia Academy. The top four finishers there will advance to the state tournament in Columbus.

BEACHWOOD — Several Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference wrestlers finished in the top four to qualify for the district tournament on Saturday at the Div. III sectional tournament at Beachwood High School.

For Wellsville, Leland Monte was second, while Colton Malone took fourth.

For Columbiana, Jensen Nordquist took second at 190 and Ashton McCullough was third at 215.

For East Palestine, Blaine Thompson was third at 150 and Jacob Hoffer was fourth at 144.

The district tournament is Friday and Saturday at Independence High School. The top four finishers at districts will qualify for the state tournament.

Div. III Rootstown

ROOTSTOWN — Several Columbiana County wrestlers punched their ticket to the Div. III district tournament with top four performances on Saturday at the Rootstown sectional.

Crestview’s Trevor McElhaney (150) and Southern’s Rowan Wiley (157) were winners, while Crestview’s Josh Smith was second at 165.

Finishing third was Crestview’s Dane Peel (113) and Leetonia’s Dylan Bennett (285). Fourth place finishers were United’s Oliver Kiko (150), Crestview’s Bo Julian (157), United’s Rohan Kelly (165), Crestview’s Elijah Scherer (175) and United’s Carson Roller (285).

The district tournament is set for Friday and Saturday at Independence High School.
