Potters gang up on Golden Eagles

EAST LIVERPOOL — Freshman Javan Dawson hit three three-pointers in the opening seven minutes to put East Liverpool on its way to a 52-38 win over United at the Potter Fieldhouse on Friday.
Freshman Donivan Austin led the Potters with 10 points. Dawson and lone senior Elliott Fitch added nine points apiece and freshman Jacye Douglas had six points.
East Liverpool improves to 10-11, while United moves to 11-10.
Kota Shasteen paced United with a game-high 19 points, including 16 in the second half. Abram Ceresna followed with nine points.
The Potters held United to 18 points in the first three quarters before the Eagles scored 20 in the final period.
United took a 4-3 lead on a Ceresna three-pointer with 5:43 remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles scored only six more points in the next 17 1/2 minutes.
Dawson’s third three-pointer gave the Potters a 14-4 lead with 1:19 remaining in the first quarter. The Potters led 21-10 at halftime and scored the first eight points of the third quarter to go ahead 29-10.
East Liverpool led 35-18 through three quarters and the closest United got after that was 11 points at 35-24.
Both teams have one regular-season game left — United hosts Valley Christian on Monday and East Liverpool travels to Boardman on Feb. 23.

Lisbon 80, Bridgeport 66
BRIDGEPORT — AJ Ramgeet and Blaine Barnes combined for 45 points as Lisbon beat Bridgeport, 80-66, Friday.
The Blue Devils improved to 14-5 and will play for the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title at East Palestine on Wednesday. Lisbon and Columbiana are tied for the league lead with one game remaining.
AJ Ramgeet totaled 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists and Barnes had 21 points and three steals. Aidan Ramgeet collected 14 points and five assists, Aiden Myers had 13 points and eight rebounds, Logan Sturgeon scored eight points and Ashton Hinchliffe grabbed eight rebounds.
The Blue Devils took a 24-14 lead in the first quarter and pushed the advantage to 40-27 at halftime.
Bridgeport, now 13-5, was led by Jaki Threet with 20 points, Jaleel Vincent 19 and Coen Brinker 15.
Lisbon also won the junior varsity game, 45-41, as Cooper Terdina scored 14 points.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen connected on nine three-pointers during a 63-49 win over Clay-Battelle on Friday.
Gavin Geisse scored a game-high 17 points, followed by Chase Hartung with 10 points and Tyler Evans nine points on three three-pointers. Mason Kell and Will Weekley each had two three-pointers and eight points.
The Golden Bears improve to 12-7, while the Cee-Bees drop to 12-4.
Oak Glen held a 37-24 scoring edge in the second half as Geisse, Hartung and Kell each scored eight points.
The Golden Bears will play John Marshall on Tuesday.

RICHMOND — Edison triumphed over Southern 62-51 on Friday.
The Indians fell to 3-18.
Edison is 8-10.
Southern hosts Columbiana on Wednesday.
River 45, Wellsville 30
HANNIBAL — The River Pilots secured a 45-30 win over Wellsville on Friday in OVAC consolation pool action.
The Tigers fell to 9-13 on the season, while River is 12-6. Wellsville is 0-7 in games outside of the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.
Wellsville will await the tournament on Sunday to see where it goes next.
