Carrollton 48, East Liverpool 29
MINERVA — Ninth-seeded East Liverpool hung around with top-seeded Carrollton for most of the first half of Wednesday’s Division IV district semifinal.
The Potters were held to 18 points in the final three quarters and dropped a 48-29 decision to the Warriors at Minerva High School.
Carrollton improves to 16-8, including a pair of three-point losses to West Branch. West Branch and Carrollton finished one-two in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.
Carrollton outscored East Liverpool 26-11 in the middle two quarters to pull away.
East Liverpool lost seven of its last eight to finish the season with a 7-17 record.
Carrollton advances to play fourth-seeded Millersburg West Holmes for the district championship at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dover High School. West Holmes topped fifth-seeded McConnelsville Morgan, 45-41, Wednesday.
