Beavers land in league title game

RAYLAND -- Beaver Local is pointed in the right direction as it is on its way to the Buckeye 8 championship game.
Using 22 points from Aiden Dray, the Beavers soared over Buckeye Local 55-35 on Tuesday night.
Beaver Local (13-2) will play Cambridge in the Buckeye 8 Athletic League championship at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the ECO Center in St. Clairsville.
Buckeye Local falls to 4-11.
Also assisting the Beavers were Matthew Anderson and Peyton Crowdery with seven points each as leading scorer Owen Hill remains out with a broken foot.
Buckeye Local won the jayvee game, 38-37. Owen Moore had 16 points for the Beavers.

WELLSBURG, W.Va. - It was tough going for the East Liverpool boys basketball against Brooke on Tuesday.
The Bruins jumped out to a 28-16 halftime lead and never looked back in a 65-46 win over the Potters.
The Potters were without leading scorer Dre'Keim Abercrombie for the second straight game due to a leg injury. There is no time table on his return.
Thoren Long had 10 points to lead the Potters (8-7). Javan Dawson added nine points.
East Liverpool will play in a Buckeye 8 placement game on Saturday at the ECO Center in St. Clairsville.
Brooke is 8-4.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. -- Oak Glen's boys basketball team came out on top in a 68-51 win over Wellsville on Tuesday.
The Golden Bears are 7-3, while Wellsville fell to 5-10.
Gavin Geiss led the charge with 14 points, while Mason Kell had 13 points.
The Oak Glen defense limited Wellsville to just 1 of 21 shooting from the field in the first half.
Darnell Roe sparked Wellsville with 17 points, while Austin Adkins had 16 points. Andrew Mackey added seven rebounds.
Oak Glen hosts rival Weir on Friday. Weir High beat the Golden Bears in the season opener 60-57.
Wellsville hosts Valley on Friday.
Oak Glen won the jayvee portion, 43-24. Jacob Everett had 14 points for the winners, while Dom Rawson paced Wellsville with nine points.
