NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen downed Beaver Local, 51-29, in girls basketball action Wednesday.
Mikalyn Balch scored 10 of her game-high 21 points in the third quarter to lead the Golden Bears. Emma Everett added 11 points and Haylee Stewart 10.
The Golden Bears led 24-15 at halftime and outscored the Beavers 21-11 in the third quarter to take a 19-point lead.
Brylee Curtis paced the Beavers with 10 points.
Oak Glen improves to 5-2 and will play at Steubenville Catholic Central today.
Beaver Local moves to 5-9 heading into today’s home game against Brooke.
Beaver Local won the junior varsity game, 32-13. Gianna Congrove, Macie Bourne and Katie Miller each scored six points for the Beavers.

SALINEVILLE — Allyssa Shroades and Katie Kellogg got the Indians going from the opening tip Wednesday.
Shroades had two three-pointers off passes from Kellogg and Kellogg had a layup and a long three-pointer to give Southern an 11-3 only 2:10 into the game on the way to a 71-29 victory over Toronto.
The Indians improve to 14-0 and will try to keep it going at East Palestine today. There will be a junior high game at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Shroades had seven three-pointers for a game-high 25 points and two rebounds, while Kellogg had a triple-double with 22 points, 11 assists, 10 steals and six rebounds.
Maddy Jones added eight points and seven rebounds, Makenna Jones four rebounds, three assists and two steals, Haylee Kellogg two steals and Emma Boyle had two assists.
Kalayah Crute had a layup off an assist from Katie Kellogg to make it 13-3 with 5:27 to play in the first quarter.
The Indians led 54-17 at halftime as Shroades’ three-pointer off another assist from Katie Kellogg to beat the buzzer.
Shroades scored 22 points in the first half on 6-of-11 three-point shooting. Katie Kellogg added 15 points in the first half.
Toronto drops to 4-9 and will host St. Clairsville on Monday.
