Potter girls build a winning streak

EAST LIVERPOOL -- East Liverpool's girls basketball team won its second straight game with a 29-24 defensive win over Buckeye Local on Monday.

The Potters are 4-7 and are at Brooke on Jan. 5.

LaNease Andrews led the way for the winners with 11 points. Meadow O'Rourke added seven points.

East Liverpool, which beat Buckeye Local on Dec. 8 as well, led 16-14 at halftime.

CALCUTTA -- Harrison Central edged Beaver Local 45-44 on Monday in girls basketball action.

Mallory Miller led the Beavers (4-7) with 13 points. Brylee Curtis added 10 points and Mya Anderson had eight points.

Beaver Local is at United on Saturday.

Harrison Central won the jayvee game, 30-26. Lilly Wright had nine points, while Madi Gaydos had seven points.

TORONTO -- East Palestine's girls basketball team bounced Toronto 46-38 on Monday.

East Palestine is 5-6 and will be at Leetonia on Jan. 5.

Toronto fell to 4-7.

Jacklyn Ogle paced the Bulldogs with 19 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Destiney Burtyk added 14 points and nine rebounds.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. -- Williamstown came out on fire and downed Oak Glen's girls basketball team 51-18 on Monday.

Oak Glen fell to 4-2. Williamstown is 6-0.

Oak Glen hosts Beaver Local on Jan. 7.

Shadyside 41,

Wellsville 10

WELLSVILLE -- Shadyside sent Wellsville to its 11th straight loss to start the season by posting a 41-10 win on Monday in girls basketball action.

Wellsville is 0-11 and has only scored more than 20 points three times this season.

Wellsville will be at Columbiana on Jan. 5.

Shadyside is 4-4.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bridgeport 69,

Wellsville 53

TORONTO -- Bridgeport came away with a 69-53 win over Wellsville on Sunday at the Todd Kalivoda Holiday Classic.

Austin Adkins had 24 points for the Tigers, 3-6.

Evan Clark led Bridgeport (7-0) with 23.

Wellsville hosts Oak Glen on Saturday.
