Indians pour it on

SALINEVILLE -- Southern's next game will be tougher than an 82-1 win over Leetonia on Monday.

The Indians led 62-0 before Leetonia hit a free throw with seven minutes left in the third quarter on a running clock.

Southern improves to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, tied with Columbiana for first place. The Indians will travel to defending league champion Columbiana on Thursday with both teams unbeaten in league play.

The Indians set the school record for points in a quarter (33) and points in a half (60). Southern also set the school mark for fewest points allowed in a game.

Freshman Katie Kellogg led the Indians with 11 rebounds, seven assists and 12 steals. Allyssa Shroades added 15 points, seven steals, three assists and two rebounds. Kalayah Crute had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and five steals. Haylee Kellogg chipped in four rebounds, two assists and four steals. Emma Boyle had four steals and an assist. Maddy Jones had a four rebounds.

Leetonia drops to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the EOAC. The Bears are scheduled to host Newton Falls on Wednesday.

United 49, Lisbon 16

HANOVERTON -- United Local's girls basketball team had no trouble in a 49-16 win over Lisbon on Monday.

United improved to 4-4 and 3-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

For the Eagles, Maelee Smith had 14 points, 10 boards and five steals. Bella Smith had 13 points and five steals. Reagan Good added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Lisbon fell to 5-3 and 3-2 in the EOAC.

Lylah Brown paced the Devils with eight points.

United is at Valley Christian on Thursday.

Lisbon hosts East Palestine on Thursday.

United won the jayvee game, 47-8. Ines Rego had 15 points for the Eagles, while Atlee Brinker added 10 points.

WELLSVILLE -- Valley Christian earned a 52-13 win over Wellsville on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference girls basketball action.

Wellsville fell to 0-7 and 0-5 in the EOAC.

The Tigers will return to their home floor against Toronto on Wednesday.

Valley Christian is 3-3 and 2-3 in the EOAC.
