Creek floods Beaver Local

CALCUTTA — Indian Creek is winning with youth and defense.
The Redskins — fielding two juniors, two sophomores and the rest freshmen — held Beaver Local to four field goals in the first half for a 59-30 win Monday.
Freshman Gracie Klinesmith scored a game-high 18 points, followed by sophomore Kaydence Walker with 16 and junior Riley Sadler with 15.
Indian Creek improves to 8-1 and has held opponents to an average of 22.3 points a game in the eight victories.
Beaver Local drops to 3-6, including a 61-20 loss at Indian Creek on Dec. 4. The Beavers are averaging 32.2 points a game.
Bella McLevey topped the Beavers with 10 points. Mallory Miller added five points from the foul line.
The Beavers took an early 4-0 lead after a pair of Miller steals. They were outscored 29-7 the rest of the half as Indian Creek led 29-11 at halftime, led by Klinesmith’s 14 points.
Indian Creek limited Beaver Local to 4-of-17 shooting in the first half and forced 14 turnovers.
Indian Creek also won the junior varsity game, 27-26, in thrilling fashion. With Indian Creek trailing 26-24 with 1.7 seconds remaining, freshman Nevaeh Miller stole a Beaver Local inbounds pass and swished a three-pointer at the buzzer for the victory. Miller finished with six points.
For the Beavers, Lilly Wright had eight points and Jansen Ours five points
Both teams play Saturday with Beaver Local at Brooke and Indian Creek hosting Dover.

CADIZ — Led by LaNease Andrews’ 34 points, East Liverpool’s girls basketball team bagged a 57-49 win over Harrison Central on Monday.
East Liverpool is 3-7 and hosts Buckeye Local on Dec. 29.
C Barker added 10 points for the Potters.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s girls basketball team earned a 55-37 win over Weir on Monday.
Mikalynn Balch powered the Bears with 22 points, while Ella Stewart added 12 points. Keira Vick also contributed nine points for the winners.
The Golden Bears are 4-1 and host Williamstown on Dec. 29.
Weir fell to 1-6. Ryann Jeter led the Red Riders with 24 points.

Southern 77, Wellsville 14
WELLSVILLE — Southern Local jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and rolled over Wellsville, 77-14, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Confernece play Monday.
The Indians imrpove to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the EOAC, one game ahead of Columbiana.
Southern had a balanced effort with seven players scoring at least seven points.
Kalayah Crute and Hailey Maines scored season highs for the Indians. Crute had 12 points and 11 rebound and Maines added eight points.
Maddy Jones had a game-high 13 points, Allyssa Shroades 11 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds, and Emma Boyle eight points, four rebounds and two assists.
Katie Kellogg had seven points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and six assists and Haylee Kellogg seven points, five rebounds and two assists. Raelea Carosiello contributed five rebounds and three steals, Lidia Spahlinger six rebounds, Maddy Jones five rebounds and Ava Reed four steals.
Wellsville fell to 0-10 and 0-7 in the EOAC.
Wellsville hosts Shadyside on Dec. 29, while Southern entertains United on Jan. 5.
