Oak Glen opens playoffs on road

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — The Oak Glen football team is heading to the West Virginia Class AA playoffs.

The Golden Bears, who had a bye week in the final week of the regular season, had to wait to find out if they qualified.

No. 15-seed Oak Glen (7-3) will travel to the second-seeded Bluefield Beavers (8-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday. It is just over a 300-mile trip for the Golden Bears.

Half of the 32 teams in Class AA advanced to the playoffs. There are two unbeatens left — top-seeded Frankfort (10-0) and fifth-seeded Doddridge County.

Bluefield has won five straight after losing to Princeton, 51-6, and Independence, 31-10.

Starting at $2.99/week.
