WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Ava Green had 16 kills and Presley Jones 13 kills as East Liverpool overpowered Brooke, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16, Thursday.

The Potters improve to 5-2.

Kamryn Yanni contributed four aces and 38 assists, Addie Jones five kills, Hailey Board three kills and two blocks, Lillie White two kills and one ace and Ayla Riggle two aces and 13 digs.

The Potters also won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-20. East Liverpool leaders were Maddie Campbell with seven kills and three aces, Koli Spencer four aces and four kills, Ella Gunning with three kills and 10 assists and Peyton Tanner four kills and seven assists.

East Liverpool will play at Indian Creek on Monday with the junior varsity match starting at 5:30 p.m.

Beaver Local 3, Buckeye 0

RAYLAND — So far, so good for the undefeated Beaver Local volleyball team.

The Beavers spiked Buckeye Local, 25-14, 25-8, 25-9, Thursday for their sixth straight 3-0 sweep.

The balanced Beavers were led by Bria Boyd with nine aces, 22 assists, two kills and three digs. Eva McKnight collected nine kills, Karsyn Bowyer five aces and five digs, Lily Schrieber six kills, six digs and a block, Taylor Pease three aces and five digs, Giada Williams four kills and two blocks, Bailee Baker four kills and Addie Thurik three kills. Perri Gilson and Sydney Wilson Plunkett each had five digs.

Beaver Local also won the junior varsity match, 25-6, 25-9. Maisie Bourne had five kills and three digs and Leah Schrieber had 10 assists, three aces and five digs for the Beavers.

The Beavers will host Brooke on Monday.

Beaver Area 3, Oak Glen 0

BEAVER, Pa. — The Beaver Bobcats are among the top volleyball teams in western Pennsylvania and they showed it Thursday.

Beaver swept Oak Glen, 25-15, 25-8, 25-14 to avenge a loss to the Golden Bears last season.

The Bobcats led 3-0 in the first game and 9-0 in the second game before the Golden Bears took their only leads in the third game at 2-1 and 4-3. They tied the score at 8-8 before the Bobcats regained control.

Beaver, which reached PIAA state semifinals and the WPIAL Class 3A championship match last year, improves to 11-1 this season. The Bobcats’ 11 victories have all come in straight sets.

Oak Glen leaders were Averi Martin with seven kills, Brooklyn Six five kills, Brayley Lash three kills, Haylee Stewart and Mattie Carney each had two kills and Mikalyn Balch made 15 assists. Brooklyn Six, Keira Vick and Mikalyn Balch each had three digs and Kendall Six two digs.

Oak Glen moves to 10-4-1 heading into Saturday’s match.

The Golden Bears won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-21. For Oak Glen, Naomi Ayers had five kills, Caetlyn Six and Audrina May each had three kills, Bryson Adams 10 assists, Katie Kliner eight digs and Elynn Rogers two aces and two assists.

Southern 3, Leetonia 0

SALINEVILLE — The Kellogg sisters combined for 37 points in leading Southern past Leetonia, 25-10, 25-3, 25-6, in Eastern Ohio Athetic Conference play Thursday.

Haylee Kellogg totaled 23 points, seven aces, 14 assists and two kills and Katie Kellogg had 14 points, five aces and four kills.

Natalia Lopez collected 13 points and two kills, Allyssa Shroades eight assists and eight kills, Kalayah Crutte three kills, Kiah Sloan two kills, Addy Martin and Brooke Boyle four digs apiece and Maddy Tsesmilles three digs.

Southern (4-4) will host Jefferson County Christian for a varsity-only contest at 6 p.m. Monday.

Southern also won the junior varsity match, 25-8, 25-7, as Jocy Richards served 13 points and Khloe Ensinger added six points.

United 3, Lisbon 1

LISBON — United had to earn every point Thursday.

The Eagles held off Lisbon for a 25-16, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23 win in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

United improves to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the EOAC, one game behind unbeaten Columbiana.

Rileah Phillips totaled 11 points and three aces, Kendall Erb eight kills, 10 points and five aces and Maelee Smith 10 kills to guide the Eagles.

For the Blue Devils, Alayna Householder 16 points, eight kills and eight digs; Maddie Marshalek 14 kills and 14 digs; Stefanee Stacey eight kills, 32 assista and 16 digs; Abby Ammon 22 digs; Addison Anderson 17 digs; Hannah Davis 15 digs and defensive leader Gionna Lenigar had three solo blocks and two assisted with six kills.

Lisbon drops to 3-5 and 2-4 in league play.

The Eagles also won the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-9. Callie Coons had eight points and three aces and Brennan seven points and two aces for the Eagles. Brooklynn Klein, Delaney Pickens and Olivia Smith each had two kills for the Blue Devils. Aria Reckner and Gracyn Owens both had four assists and Lynn Boyd, Lexi Roush and Johanna Ford had four digs apiece.

Both teams return to league play Tuesday as United hosts Valley Christian and Lisbon entertains East Palestine.
