NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen keeps on rolling.

The Golden Bears improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2020 with a 43-0 win over Belpre on Friday night.

Maddox Bowen completed 8 of 11 passes for 173 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Golden Bears.

Logan Murray caught two balls for 52 yards and rushed four times for 64 yards. Josh Maher had two catches for 50 yards, while Cameron Carter had two catches for 43 yards.

The Golden Bears rushed for 94 yards and passed for 173 yards.

Oak Glen hosts Toronto next Friday.

Wellsville 20

WELLSVILLE — Southern broke open a close game with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat Wellsville, 41-20, in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference opener Friday.

It was the first win for Southern’s new head coach Zack Almy as the Indians improved to 1-3.

Landen Heffner ran for four touchdowns, including touchdown runs of 7 and 5 yards in the fourth quarter to give the Indians a 34-20 lead. Jaylen Pitts scored the last touchdown on a 48-yard fumble return with 4:46 remaining.

Wellsville trailed 22-20 heading into the fourth quarter after a Ryder Culp 13-yard touchdown run and two Jeron Jackson touchdown passes covering 50 and 61 yards.

The Tigers led 14-6 in the second quarter only to see the Indians rally.

Freshman quarterback Jack Pitts gave Southern its first score on a 1-yard run in the first quarter. Pitts and Heffner added two-point conversion runs later on.

Wellsville drops to 0-4 and plays its next four games on the road, beginning next Saturday against Valley Christian.

Southern will host unbeaten East Palestine on Friday.
