Beaver Local spikes Harrison Central
CADIZ — Beaver Local’s varsity volleyball team rolled past Harrison Central 25-4, 25-8, 25-9 on Thursday night.
For the Beavers (12-1), Bria Boyd filled the stat sheet with 20 assists, three aces, six digs and three kills. Eva McKnight and Addie Thurik each finished with seven kills, while Sydney McNear had seven kills and three digs. Giada Williams added five kills and two digs, and Lily Schrieber chipped in five kills and three digs. Perri Gilson anchored the defense with eight digs and four aces, and Karsyn Bowyer added eight digs and two aces. Taylor Pease fueled several long service runs in the first two sets to keep momentum on Beaver Local’s side.
In jayvee action, the Beavers won 25-9, 25-10. Maycie Dunn had seven aces and two digs, while Leah Schrieber totaled four kills, five assists, two aces and two digs. Gianna Congrove recorded six assists and four digs, and Sophia Gibson contributed four kills, two aces and two digs.
Beaver Local hosts Buckeye Local on Monday with jayvee starting at 5:30 p.m.

RAYLAND — East Liverpool was on top of things with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 over Buckeye Local on Thursday.
East Liverpool is 9-3 and will host Linsly on Saturday.
For the Potters, Kamryn Yanni had two aces, four kills and 27 assists. Presley Jones had two aces and seven kills. Addie Jones added four kills. Kendall Martin had three aces and seven kills. Ava Green had 17 kills. Hailey Board had three blocks. Ayla Riggle added three aces, two kills and nine digs.
East Liverpool won the jayvee portion, 25-20, 25-19. Ella Gunning had four aces and nine assists. Addie Smith and Lillie White had four kills each.
United 3, Wellsville 0
HANOVERTON — United set the stage for its biggest match of the season by downing Wellsville, 25-16, 25-6, 25-16, in a varsity-only match Thursday.
The Eagles notched their seventh straight win to improve to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. They will host unbeaten Columbiana on Tuesday with the league title on the line.
Baylee Smith totaled eight aces and six digs in Thursday’s win. Rileah Phillips had six kills and 15 assists and Chloe Angelo made eight blocks.
Wellsville lost its third in a row to drop to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in league play. The Tigers are scheduled to host Madonna on Monday.
Southern 3, East Palestine 2
EAST PALESTINE — Southern pulled out a thrillling five-set win over East Palestine, 25-20, 23-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-9, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Thursday.
The Indians improve to 8-6 overall and 6-4 in the EOAC.
Allyssa Shroades led Southern wtih 19 points, 12 kills and 14 assists. Natalia Lopez collected 16 points, four kills and two blocks; Katie Kellogg 10 points and 16 kills; Haylee Kellogg 18 assists and five kills; Kalayah Crute eight kills and two blocks; Gracie Lee had two kills and one block filling in for injured Kiah Sloan; Brooke Boyle 12 digs; Addy Martin seven points and eight digs; and Maddy Tsesmilles had eight digs.
The Bulldogs fell to 6-6 overall and 5-4 in league play.
Cami Kridler led East Palestine with 22 assists, 16 digs and 10 points. Kennedy Andre added 20 assists and 15 digs. Amara Wilson finished with 15 kills, 20 digs and two blocks, while Marley Blythe had 11 kills, 24 digs, 17 points and four aces. Alyssa Dilling anchored the defense with 35 digs and chipped in five points.
In junior varsity play, Southern won 25-14, 25-11. The Indians were led by Eliona Forbes with 11 points, Mary Beadneell six points and five kills, Jocy Richards five points and six digs, Jada Gottschling five points and Payton Davidson six kills. East Palestine’s Violet Glavan had four points and two kills.
East Palestine visits Springfield on Monday and Southern hosts Lisbon pink game on Tuesday.
Lisbon 3, Leetonia 0
LISBON — Leetonia scored the first point, but it was all Stafanee Stacey and the Lisbon Blue Devils after that.
Stacey served Lisbon’s first 14 points on the way to a 25-6, 25-7, 25-17 win over the Bears on Thursday.
The Blue Devils even their mark at 7-7 overall and 5-5 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The Bears dropped their 38th consecutive match, falling to 0-11 on the season and 0-10 in the EOAC.
After Stacey served 14 points for a 14-1 lead in the first game, Marshalek followed with nine in a row for a 23-4 lead.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the second game.
Stacey totaled 20 points with five aces and five kills. Maddie Marshalek had 12 points and eight kills, Abby Ammon nine points and six digs, Addison Anderson eight kills and Gionna Leningar six kills and two blocks.
Lisbon also swept the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-8. For the Blue Devils, Aria Reckner had four kills, Chloe McCoy three kills, Olivia Smith two kills, Lilian Tenzek seven digs, Kyler Malone five aces and Gracyn Owens 10 assists and two aces.
