Bears sweep Spartans
NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen swept Boardman 25-17, 26-24, 25-17 on Tuesday behind a balanced attack.
Brayley Lash led the way with 13 kills and five blocks, while Brooklyn Six added 12 kills and nine digs. Averi Martin chipped in 10 kills and four aces, and Haylee Stewart finished with six kills and two blocks. Setter Mikalyn Balch chipped in 44 assists to go with three digs. Keira Vick had nine digs and Ellie Smith added three.
In junior varsity action, Oak Glen won 25-20, 20-25, 25-22. Zoey Caughey and Caetlyn Six had six kills each, while Kennedy Staley and Naomi Ayers added five apiece. Bryson Adams totaled 11 assists and four digs, and Elynn Rogers added nine assists and four digs. Katie Kliner paced the defense with 11 digs and three assists.
The Golden Bears also won the freshman match 25-11, 25-12. Audrina May led with nine kills, while Karter Turley had two kills. Rogers dished out nine assists, Adams had five assists and three aces, and Kliner and Isabella Hoder combined for seven digs.
Oak Glen is 12-5-3 and host Union Local on Tuesday.
Southern 3, Wellsville 0
SALINEVILLE — Southern rolled over Wellsville for a 25-20, 25-11, 25-15 win an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference varsity-only contest Thursday.
The Indians improve to 6-5, while the Tigers drop to 2-7.
Haylee Kellogg totaled 16 points and 14 assists and Katie Kellogg had 13 points, four aces and 12 kills for the Indians. Kiah Sioan totaled 10 kills, Natalia Lopez seven points and four blocks, Allyssa Shroades seven points, 12 assists and five blocks, Brooke Boyle 10 digs, Maddy Tsesmilles seven digs, Kalayah Crute four kills and two blocks and Addy Martin four digs.
Southern will host Toronto on Monday.
Columbiana 3, Lisbon 1
COLUMBIANA — Columbiana remained unbeaten finishing off strong against Lisbon, 25-23, 21-25, 25-15, 25-11, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Thursday.
The Clippers improve to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the EOAC, one game ahead of United.
Addisyn Dangler and Ladry Smith powered the Clippers with Dangler getting 18 kills, 10 points and five aces and Smith 15 kills, nine points and two aces. Evy Rapp added nine points, seven kills and six digs, Eva Waller four points and 38 assists and Layla McCarthy three kills and 17 digs.
For the Blue Devils (4-7, 3-4 EOAC), Maddie Marshalek had 12 kills, Stefanee Stacey five kills and 26 assist. Alayna Householder four kills and Hannah Davis five digs.
Columbiana also won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-15. For the Clippers, Ava Marks had 15 points, two aces, seven kills and five digs; Ella Eisenbraun six points, five aces and five assists; Riley Fisk six points, two kills and three digs; and Abby Barborak five points, two aces and six assists.
Columbiana will play at Jackson-Milton on Saturday, while Lisbon hosts Leetonia on Tuesday.
East Liverpool 3, Lisbon 2
EAST LIVERPOOL — Lisbon leaders during a 25-19, 16-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-9 loss to East Liverpool on Wednesday were Gionna Lenigar with six solo blocks and six assisted and 4 kills; Maddie Marshalek 15 kills and 11 digs; Alayna Householder six kills, 17 digs and three aces; Addison Anderson 14 digs; Hannah Davis 12 digs and three aces; and Stefanee Stacey 30 assists and 10 digs.
In a 25-15, 25-22 loss in the junior varsity match, Lisbon’s Delaney Pickens and Brooklynn Klein each had four kills, while Lexi Roush and Johanna Ford both had eight digs.
In a 25-13, 25-22 loss in the froshmore match, Lisbon’s Emmalynn Haines had kills, Kyler Malone three kills, Aria Reckner 10 assist and three kills, Chloe McCoy two kills and Lilian Tenzek six passes.
