Hall to coach at Quest
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Oak Glen High School graduate and former West Virginia University wrestling standout Peyton Hall has been hired as an assistant coach at the Quest School of Wrestling.
Hall, WVU’s all-time wins leader with 135, is a three-time All-American and five-time NCAA qualifier. He was 29-1 in his final season, which included a Big 12 tournament title.
Hall, also a Quest alumni, was a recent No. 4 overall pick in the Champions League of American Wrestling draft.
Bananas in town
PITTSBURGH — The popular Savannah Bananas will be playing two games at sold-out PNC Park this weekend.
The Bananas will play the Texas Tailgaters at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday with activities around the ballpark beginning as early as 2 p.m. each day. Gates to PNC Park will open at 4:30 p.m.
In addition to the two Bananas baseball game, the Acrisure Stadium Kickoff and Rib Fest will take place outside Acrisure Stadium on Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m. Also, the University of Pittsburgh Football team will play Duquesne at the stadium at noon Saturday.
Federal Street from General Robinson Street, through the Roberto Clemente Bridge, will close to vehicular traffic from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Sunday.
Toronto bests Wellsville
GLENMOOR — Toronto picked up a road win at Historic Highlands on Tuesday, defeating Wellsville 184-219.
The Red Knights were led by Terry Dear’s 45, with Stevie Ohalek, Wyatt Anderson and Joey Westlake each adding 46, 46 and 48, respectively.
For Wellsville, Gage Vance carded a team-low 53. Darnell Roe followed with a 49, while Cooper Frank shot 55. Nate Cline had a 62.
Wellsville is at East Liverpool on Thursday.
Lisbon falls to Crestview
GLENMOOR — Crestview’s golf team was a 181-199 winner over Lisbon on Tuesday at Historic Highlands.
For the Rebels, Braydon Gilbert had a 46, Caleb Booth 45, Derek Duvall 43 and Grant Snyder 47.
For Lisbon, Logan Sturgeon ahd a 43, Brady Chamerlain had a 50, Zach Johnson 52 and Aiden Myers 54.
Pirates best the Cardinals
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Henry Davis homered, Bryan Reynolds hit a pair of doubles and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-3 on Tuesday night.
Mitch Keller (6-12) allowed three runs on three hits and struck out nine in six innings for the Pirates, who have won five of six.
Andre Pallante (6-12) allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and a walk in five innings. He is 0-4 with a 11.65 ERA over 17 innings in his last four starts.
Nolan Gorman hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals, his 13th of the season.
