Davidson hits hole-in-one
CALCUTTA — Isaac Davidson from East Liverpool is still at it
Davidson, who played on East Liverpool’s 2013 Ohio Division II state runner-up golf team, aced the 13th hole at Turkana Golf Course on Tuesday.
Witnesses were Doug Smith, Jamie Davidson and Doc Vay.
Clippers best Southern
SALEM — Columbiana’s girls golf team improved to 6-0 with a 189-219 victory over Southern Local on Wednesday at Salem Hills.
Maddie Jackson led the Clippers with a 41. Nia Missos carded a 48 while Victoria Buckingham and Hannah Moffett each posted 50s to round out the scoring.
For Southern, Rylee Digman paced the team with a 48, followed by Lola Perfetto (54), Kaitlyn Boston (55) and Ava Reed (62).
Columbiana will face Mineral Ridge on Thursday at Valley Golf Course.
Beaver Local wins again
CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s boys golf team improved to 5-0 with a 156-161 win over Carrollton on Wednesday at Turkana Golf Course.
Owen Hill led the Beavers with a 38. Braxton Hickman and Britton Hickman each carded 39s, while Mikey Druschel added a 40 to complete the scoring.
Beaver Local will visit Edison otoday at Spring Hills Golf Course, followed by the Cardinal Classic on Friday at Mill Creek’s South Course with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Kicking off the season
Several area soccer and volleyball teams will open their season on Friday — the first official day of competition for the two sports.
