Indians fall to Rockets, Eagles

GUILFORD LAKE — Lowellville secured a tri-match victory Monday at Twin Springs with a team score of 160, ahead of United’s 171 and Southern’s 217.

Kaden Smith led the Rockets with a 37. Reeve Donatelli added a 40, Nathan Yon shot 41 and Ian Doll finished with a 42.

United was led by Adam Looman’s 38 and Davin Ingold’s 39. Cole Crawford carded a 42 and Lukas Hamilton shot 53.

Southern’s top scores came from Zac Mayfield and Jack Pitts, who each shot 43. Jensen Allendor added a 64 and Connor Conley shot 67.

Potters come up short

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Palestine’s golf team grabbed a 204-209 win over East Liverpool on Tuesday at the East Liverpool Country Club.

For East Palestine (1-2), Kayla Bland had a 47, Luke Kinkead 52, Hunter Hupp 52 and Alivia Magness 53.

For the Potters, Cooper Klein had a 49, Garrett Cooper 52, Donovan Shallcross 53 and Carstin Suzenvich 55.

Tigers defeated by Lisbon

WELLSVILLE — Lisbon scored a 201-238 win over Wellsville on Tuesday at Historic Highlands.

Logan Sturgeon led the Blue Devils with a 47, followed by Brandy Chamberlain with a 49, Mason Jones 52, Zach Johnson 54 and Cameron Bardo 57.

Darnell Roe paced the Tigers with a 48. Cooper Frank added a 59, while Austin Dotson shot 69 and Austin Adkins and Danny Allen each had a 70.

Wellsville (0-1) will host East Liverpool Christian on Thursday at Historic Highlands.

Beaver girls edge United

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s girls golf team was a 200-214 winner over United on Tuesday at Beaver Meadows.

For the Beavers, Brenna Jones had a 46, Juliana Johnston 49, Emilie Druschel 51 and Mya Anderson 54.

For the Eagles, Claire Whetsone and Alaina Brewer had 49s. Addie Johnson and Audrey Wilson had 58s.

Giants rip Pirates

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Logan Webb struck out 10 in six innings, and the San Francisco Giants hit three home runs on their way to an 8-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.

Webb (10-8) allowed one run while scattering seven hits. It was his sixth double-digit strikeout game of the season.

Rookie Christian Koss and Willy Adames each hit a two-run homer and Jerar Encarnacion added a solo shot off rookie Mike Burrows as San Francisco won for just the third time in 11 games.

Koss opened the scoring with a drive into the left-field bleachers in the third inning. Encarnacion’s blast increased the Giants’ lead to 3-1 in the fourth, and Adames’ 18th homer of the season made it 6-1 in the fifth.

Encarnacion was playing his first game since June 15 after being sidelined by a strained left oblique.

San Francisco’s Patrick Bailey added a two-run single in the sixth inning.

Burrows (1-4) was charged with six runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Bryan Reynolds had two hits and drove in the Pirates’ lone run with a single in the third inning. Pittsburgh lost for the third time in four games.
