CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s throwers flexed their muscles on Friday during the first day of the West Virginia State Track and Field Meet at Laidley Field.

Orien Bone, a sophomore, threw 52-feet, 3 3/4 inches on his second throw to take second in the Class AA shot put.

Bone fouled on three of his attempts and didn’t make it over 50 feet in his other two attempts. Point Pleasant junior Caden Hill hit 55-5 1/4 on his final throw to win the event. Five of his six throws exceeded Bone’s best.

Reecelyn Craig, a senior, captured sixth place in the girls Class AA shot put with a best throw of 32-7. Craig’s best throw was her fifth, while the winner Hannah Baker of Point Pleasant hit 38-4.5 on her second throw.

No Oak Glen athlete in preliminary races advanced to Saturday’s finals.

The two Golden Bear relay finals contested on Friday did not place higher than 13th.
