WHEELING, W.Va. –Oak Glen grabbed its spot in the OVAC Class 4A softball tournament final with a 7-2 win over Beaver Local on Wednesday night at the I-470 Complex.

Mattie Carney had a home run, single and an RBI to lead the Bears. Kayla Wright added a double and two RBIs. Maddie Murray had two hits and two RBIs.

Carney also was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

Addie Thurik had a double and single for the Beavers. Brylee Curtis and Ally Wright had two hits each.

Thurik took the loss with no strikeouts and four walks in two innings.

The Bears (22-8) will play Harrison Central in the championship at 7 p.m. Friday at the I-470 Complex. Harrison beat Weir 1-0 in the other semifinal on Wednesday.

Beaver Local (15-4) hosts United Tuesday.

Southern 1

COLUMBIANA –Caitlynn Pleska blasted two home runs, had two singles and tallied nine RBIs in Columbiana’s 21-1 win over Southern in five innings on Wednesday.

Maryn Hepler had two doubles, a triple and a single, while Addison Brode had four hits including a double.

Pleska, who has 10 home runs on the season, was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and two walks.

Kennedy Lewis and Makenna Jones had doubles for Southern.

Columbiana (15-5, 9-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) hosts United today.

If the Clippers win they will clinch a share of the league title.

Southern (6-8, 5-2 in the EOAC) is at East Palestine today.

LISBON — Kamyrn Peruchetti had a double and was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and a walk in a 4-2 Lisbon win over Wellsville on Wednesday.

Abby Ammon and Sofia Brown had a hit and RBI each.

For Wellsville, Rylee Brown had three hits including a double with an RBI. Presley Stokes had two hits.

Makayla Landess was the losing pitcher with 10 strikeouts and a walk in six innings.

Lisbon (8-12, 2-6 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) is at Leetonia today.

Wellsville (6-11, 2-10) is at Heartland today.
