MILLERSBURG — The Kirby siblings are jumping all over the place.

East Liverpool freshman Tyler Kirby won the boys long jump and junior Kailynn Kirby was fourth in the girls high jump on the first day of the West Holmes Division II district track and field meet Tuesday.

Tyler Kirby had a winning long jump of 20-feet-0 1/4, the only one to go over 20 feet.

Kailynn Kirby, a state qualifier, was fourth in the high jump by clearing 4-foot-10.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the Muskingum University regional next week.

The East Liverpool boys also won the first race of the meet. The 3200-meter relay team of Quintin Conrad, Brody Vulgamore, Maddox Roach and Julius Jones had a winning time of 8 minutes, 6.62 seconds.

They are right on the school record of 8:06.0, set in 2003 by Mark Montgomery, Mike Davis, Jake Kinsey and Justin Campbell.

The Minerva 3200 relay team of Owen Yoder, Grasyn Rettig, Tyson Fetty and Rowen Hoffee was third Tuesday in a school-record time of 8:07.25.

The district meet resumes Friday with the remaining field events at 4 p.m. and the running finals at 5 p.m.
