Potters claim Buckeye 8 victory
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The East Liverpool boys track team is hitting top speed.
Junior Maddox Roach was part of three meet records and the Potters won six events to capture the Buckeye 8 Meet at Red Devil Stadium on Tuesday.
The Potters totaled 130 points to top the 11-team field. They had finished second behind host St. Clairsville the past two seasons. St. Clairsville was second with 119 points.
Roach set meet records with wins in the 800-meter run (1:58.00), 1600 run (4:23.88) and joining Gavin Wright, Quintin Conrad and Julius Jones in the winning 1600 relay (3:26.66).
Conrad also won the 400 dash (50.68 seconds) and joined Wright, William McHenry and Loyd Hendershott on the winning 800 relay team (1:34.22).
Jones, Isaac Christian, Brody Vulgamore and Zayvier Wynn won the 3200 relay (8:41.54).
Beaver Local’s Landon Wheatley won the high jump (6-0).
The St. Clairsville girls repeated as team champions with 129 points.
Beaver Local’s Mallory Miller was the only area girls winner, capturing the 200 sash (26.19).
