Beaver Local hits four homers to crush East Liverpool, 20-0

EAST LIVERPOOL — Ciara Call hit two home runs and drove in three runs and Tatum Duncan drove in seven runs to power Beaver Local past East Liverpool, 20-0, in five innings Wednesday at Patterson Field.
The Beavers, now 4-1 on the season, scored nine runs in the second inning and nine more in the fourth.
Call hit home runs in the first and fourth innings to put the Beavers on their way. Duncan had three hits, including a home run and a double, while Brylee Curtis also homored.
Tori Druschel collected two doubles and a single. Addie Hoppel doubled, singled and drove in two runs.
Winning pitcher Addie Thurik pitched three hitless innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Hoppel pitched two innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out five.
Kylee Evans had the Potters’ lone hit with a double.
Cate Davis took the loss, giving up 13 earned runs in four innings. She struck out two and walked four.
Beaver Local is scheduled to host Harrison Central on Friday.

Bears fall in eighth
WEIRTON, W.Va. — Loganne Barton’s solo home run in the eighth inning gave Weir a 3-2 win over Oak Glen on Wednesday.
Oak Glen was leading 2-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh when Kylie Dean hit a two-run single to cap a nine-pitch at-bat, sending the game into extra innings.
The Golden Bears scored their two runs in the first inning on Danica Holden’s and Maddie Murray’s sacrifice fly.
Winning pitcher Eliza Utt blanked Oak Glen the rest of the way as she gave up five hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks.
Mattie Carney took the loss, allowing seven hits with seven strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. She collected two hits herself, including a double.
Oak Glen (7-5) is scheduled to play at St. Marys on Friday.

Lisbon wins second
SALINEVILLE — Logan Sturgeon and Bryce Esarey combined on a one-hitter to highlight Lisbon’s 11-1 win over Southern in five innings Wednesday.
Sturgeon got the victory, allowing only a single to Mason Sosack in four innings. He struck out four and walked five. Esarey struck out one in one inning of relief.
Ashton Hinchliffe led the Blue Devils with a first-inning triple, a single and three RBIs. Brady Carpenter had a double and a single with two RBIs and two runs scored. Marc Moore collected two hits and three runs and Mason Jones added two hits.
Mason Pitts took the loss for the Indians, giving up eight earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and five walks.
Lisbon improves to 2-1 on the season.
